Angie had been part of a kickball team with some friends from work for a while. The league was hosting a kickball tournament & party one Saturday morning, so Angie headed over to the park with her friends. Meanwhile, Joe was sleeping in when his friends invited him to a last minute game of kickball. By the time he looked at this phone and saw the invite, they had already left him at home. 20 minutes later they contacted him again, saying there was 1 spot left on their team, and he could have it. He got up, got ready, and headed over to the park. Joe & Angie's teams met for the second game of the day. Around the third inning, everyone was having so much fun hanging out, that the game stopped and the party began. One of Angie's friends had brought a go pro camera and was videotaping all of the shenanigans. Angie & Joe had been chatting for a while, and added each other on Facebook so that Joe could get a copy of the video. They talked for a while, Angie shared the video, and then they talked some more. Two weeks after they met, they decided to hang out and go look at Christmas lights together around town - one of Angie's all-time favorite activities. The hanging out turned into dates, and dates turned into a relationship the following year.
We were on vacation in Hawai'i and going to all of the sight-seeing, touristy locations. We hiked Diamondhead Trail, went to the famous Lighthouse trail, and stopped at Halona Blowhole Lookout to try to see some whales. While wandering around the lookout, Joe found a restricted section. After some convincing, I agreed to go past the "Do Not Enter" sign and down the rocky trail to the sandy beach below. There were a few other people down there, and we stopped to take pictures for them. Joe kept going past everyone else, climbed up the rocky wall and found a little hideaway on the other side. Once down there, it was only us and the turquoise ocean. I had my camera out taking pictures of us, and recording video so that I could freeze frame it for photos later. After a few minutes of looking off into the ocean, Joe reminded me that my phone was still recording. I went back over to it and turned it off, then turned around to see Joe getting down on one knee and pulling a box out of his pocket. The next few minutes are a blur for both of us, I wish I had kept my camera recording! We're pretty sure he asked me to marry him, and I think I said yes, but the next thing we knew we were hugging and kissing and laughing, not really sure of what had happened! He laughed and said, "You didn't even let me put the ring on you!" So then I laughed and said, "Oh yeah! Do that!" Then he asked me to marry him again while putting the ring on my finger, and I said YES! We are so excited to share this next chapter of our lives with you, and can't wait to see you in Phoenix in October!
