Emily and Christian grew up in the same hometown on the Space Coast of Florida but went to different high schools, so their paths didn’t cross until undergrad at the University of Miami. Though they were both premed and had a few classes together, they never became more than casual acquaintances. After graduating, Emily went off to West Virginia for MD, PhD training, while Christian stayed in Florida and attended UCF medical school. Nearly 10 years later they both matched at UVA for internal medicine residency and the rest is history.
