Our first “date” was a late-night, slightly tipsy meal at Waffle House. We didn't go into this thinking we would go so far, but over time, it became so much more. We were in a long-distance relationship—California to New York and back again. We went months without seeing each other, making time through short visits, phone and video calls, and syncing up Netflix shows from different states. It wasn’t easy, but we kept showing up for each other. We learned how important communication was - to always be open, encouraging, and to make the time to check in on how we were feeling. There were times when the distance felt like too much and it wasn't clear how the relationship could grow with a whole country between us. Spence loves to remind Milly of all the times she asked, “What are we doing? Where can this really go?” Well, it went from California and New York… to CaliYork. And now, it’s taking us down the aisle!
