Best Woman
Since the day Andrew met Madds and saw her massive alien head, he has been “blessed”. A fellow winner-of-the-small-things, she is Andrew’s biggest competition in the never-ending Mills family olympics. Mini-hockey, board games, made up challenges that make no sense... everyone else in the family strives for 3rd place while Madds and Andrew fight for gold. That said, when big things come up, Madds is Andrew’s go-to person for encouragement and advice. Despite being 7 years younger, she is fundamentally one of the wisest and strongest individuals. To those who know Andrew, it is no surprise Madds is his Best Woman based on the weirdly large amount he talks about her and her accomplishments. However, to those who know Madds, it is no surprise because she is truly the BEST Best Woman.
Man of Honor
Jordan & Dalton first met 24 odd years ago in a hospital room. Initially, Jordan was very hesitant of Dalton. She thought he looked like an alien, cried a lot & took away all the attention she was getting. Then, he started growing up, becoming an essential part in the family dynamic. What was his role? Making Jordan look like the worst child ever. He did everything right growing up- he could talk plain, he was good at school, didn't get in trouble, was friends with everyone, sports came naturally to him.. yada yada. What Jordan didn't realize at the time was that all his annoying qualities actually made her want to be better, try harder, excel more. Jordan FINALLY accepted Dalton into the family and even though he'll always be her little brother- he's her best friend, & now- Man of Honor.
Best Man
Immediately upon Andrew’s birth, he had a best friend for the rest of his life — Jakey-boy! Jake first questioned this relationship by suffocating Andrew with a pillow to help “make baby stop crying”, and tackling their mom causing Andrew to go flying through the air and land on his head. Eventually, when Andrew stopped crying as much, Jake began to appreciate his little brother and the adventures began… jumping off decks onto trampolines, pushing each other down hills in buggies, flipping dirt bikes and golf carts, it never stopped. Jake remains Andrew’s adventure buddy, and over the years they have spent countless hours together. Through Jake’s actions, perseverance, and love of life, he has taught Andrew invaluable lessons. He is the silent hero in Andrew’s life and his Best Man.

Chris was Andrew’s first roommate at the Naval Academy and ultimately his roomie-for-life. Over the next 6 years of roommateship, they spent way too much time with one another. Even when they had opportunities to be apart, they would instead travel around the U.S. and Europe together. The perfect roomie combo came to an end in 2016 when the Navy made Andrew move to Texas. The only silver-lining to the forced break-up was it gave Andrew and Chris the opportunity and time to find women who would eventually become their wives, Molly and Jordan. Little do they know, Chris and Andrew still send Zillow links to each other of large farms and mansions where they could eventually reunite as roomies with families and make DIPCAT Brewery a booming business.

Travy ‘Toughnuts’ Franklin, a true southern gem from Alabama, was one of Andrew’s best friends on the Navy hockey team. That’s right, a hockey player from Alabama! Even more shocking, the Carhartt wearing, deer-killing, fighter, and the Lulu-lemon wearing, wine-drinking, weird goalie on the hockey team became best friends. As they say, opposites attract. After four years of memorable hockey road trips and shenanigans, with many ‘Travy half-n-half’s’ involved, Andrew and Trav became roomies during flight school. During this time, Andrew and Trav are best known for solving Chris’s great love mystery of 2016 by having secret meetings in their jack-and-jill bathroom. Now one of them is a bad-ass F-18 pilot in California, and the other flies along fat, dumb, and happy in the P-8 from Florida.

Paige and Jordan were friends since high school. Both played sports, both enjoyed a fun night with friends, both like beer, football, and camo. Match made in heaven, right? Right. Paige isn't all tough and rugged though, she has a softer side too. As a blonde-specialist hairdresser, an amazing eyelash artist and a glorified party planner- she is one versatile bff. Paige is known for being loyal, determined, self-assured, and hard-working. Let's just say- you want her on your side.

Luke, commonly referred to as Boopie or Pookie, is one of Andrew’s (Dew Dew’s) oldest friends, dating back to the good-ole-days of mini-mite hockey in Gaylord, Michigan. Both children to strong-willed, loud, blonde, honey badgers, Boopie and Dew Dew shared many common mother-son stories throughout their years growing up together. In high school, they both moved away from their mother’s nest early to play hockey in the U.P. of Michigan. Between near-death experiences in blizzards, wearing sexy jean skirts on Halloween, and just Luke being Luke, there are too many stories to count. Nowadays, they continue to relive those stories when Luke can find time away from hosting wrestling matches at his house in Midland, and Andrew can make a trip up to Michigan.

Jordan and Jordan, J "Squared" if you will. Let's just say they're lucky they made it this far. Initially- Jordan Mahler did NOT like Jordan Cook. Jordan Cook apparently "dressed like a trendy sorority girl" and Jordan Mahler was not interested in going on a double date with Jordan Cook, Andrew, and her husband, Eric. But after a few drinks, a bathroom break, and some more drinks- Jordan Mahler started to accept Jordan Cook for the non-trendy non-sorority girl she is. Four deployments later (2 of Andrew's and 2 of Eric's) they're great friends.

Arguable the most interesting character on the list, Blank and Andrew became great friends freshman year of college when they decided to take on the Chemistry major together. On top of that, Blank rounded out the greatest roommate combo Bancroft Hall has ever seen when he joined Andrew and Chris in Room 3066 sophomore year. Between King Hall cereal runs, watching hours of How I Met Your Mother, and blackmailing one another, it is surprising they passed a single class. Thankfully for their GPA’s and physical health, Blank took a year away from school to do a mission trip in South Sudan. This ended the roommateship, but it didn’t end their friendship. Blank continues to surprise Andrew with visits, pics, and ridiculous texts when he isn’t under water eating NARP treats on submarines.

Caroline and Jordan originally met when Caroline needed a place to stay while her soon-to-be husband, Thomas, was underwater in a submarine. Caroline moved into Andrew's house while he was on his first deployment... yes, the Navy is weird, try to keep an open mind. Once Thomas and Andrew both got home and Thomas and Caroline got married, the 4 of them started to double date. A lot. Like can't go a week without seeing each other because it's so fun, a lot. There were many days and nights that one of them were 3rd wheeling with the other couple and it was always a memorable time. Thank you to our waitress at Al's Pizza for putting up with us every Thursday.

Benjamin Berkey, Director of Hockey Operations (Ret.), was not only the mastermind behind the Navy Hockey dynasty from 2011- 2014, but he was also the sole reason Andrew kept his head above water at the Academy. Ben is so organized and efficient with his own life that he willingly helped others, especially Andrew, accomplish time-consuming life tasks (taxes, scheduling appointments, planning vacations, etc.). Although he is a large, aggressive-sounding guy on the outside, Benji-Bear is actually a softy on the inside. In his free time, Ben would become passionate about dolphin excursions, have coffee pots bounced off his head, and become a punching bag for Andrew as others ‘held his watch.’ To this day, it is a wonder why Ben is such a patient and reliable friend to Andrew.
