Jordan and Kayla’s story didn’t start smoothly—but it was always meaningful. Jordan knew he liked Kayla long before she saw him the same way, and after a slightly awkward Ben & Jerry’s “date” in Boone in April 2024 (and a clear rejection), he assumed that chapter had closed. But over a summer of shared moments, laughter, and growing familiarity in group settings, Kayla began to reconsider. With encouragement from her roommates and clarity in her heart, she realized she needed to be honest about her feelings. One afternoon, she surprised Jordan by hopping into his car and nervously handing him a sticky note that simply read, “I Like You.” What followed was confusion, laughter, a lot of questions, and after some prayerful consideration, Jordan chose to take a chance and ask her on a date.....again. From there, things unfolded quickly and sweetly. In the weeks that followed, they spent intentional time together before the busy OCC season, including serving side by side on a Vision Trip to Ecuador. The new year brought deeper connection through family. Jordan visiting Kayla’s grandparents in Jekyll Island, followed by Kayla spending time with Jordan’s family in Boone. From cheering on a surprising Commanders playoff win (earning Kayla her “good luck charm” title) to bonding during an icy, slow-motion car wreck weekend, their relationship grew through adventure, faith, and laughter. What began with a sticky note turned into a story marked by the joy of choosing each other.
