On Labor Day weekend of 2020, Erik and Maggie both went to Crandon, WI, for the Championship Off-road Races. Maggie had been attending the races with friends every year since 2013. Erik decided to attend with his best friend Ryan Hawkinson, upon recently moving back to Wisconsin after living in Arizona. They both camped at Wendt's Trackside, the property of good friends Glen and Randy Wendt. From there, they met through mutual friends and spent the weekend together. At the end of the weekend, Erik asked Maggie to go on their first official date (a supper club, of course). Fast forward to Labor Day weekend 2025. Erik surprised Maggie by proposing where they first met: Wendt's Trackside. Surrounded by their racing family, Erik got down on one knee in the middle of a group photo. Glen helped arrange the surprise. In addition, bridesmaid Danielle Bocik and groomsman Ryan Bocik played a big role by helping pick up the ring and bring it to Crandon the night before due to a delay at the jewelers that prevented Erik from picking up the ring himself. They discreetly hid the ring in the camper of groomsman Josh Walby and bridesmaid Megan Dewall, who also helped ensure Maggie arrived for the group photo. Both couples now stand up in the wedding as great friends in our love story and our lives.
