While most of things we mention are nearby, here are some things that are outside Seattle but not too far away: - Bainbridge Island (20-30 minute easy ferry ride from downtown Seattle, beautiful ride with views of Seattle skyline and mountains, adorable town) - Vashon Island (half day trip) - Whidby Island (half day trip) - Mount St. Helens (three hour drive) - Johnson Observatory looks into the mouth of the volcano - Mount Rainier

Volunteer Park

Water tower with over a hundred steps to get to top but it has an amazing 360 view of Seattle. View of the Space Needle at another location within the park. Nice big green fields and super tall trees. Seattle Asian Art Museum is located there along with a plant conservatory. Good from dawn to dusk. (10 minute drive from hotel)

Louisa Boren Viewpoint

if you go to Volunteer park, you can park your car there, explore the park and then head towards Louisa Boren which is just two blocks away. On the way there is Lake View Cemetery which a well kept and historical cemetery, where Bruce Lee and his son are buried. It is a nice place to walk through and visit the Lees’ graves. Then just across the street is the Louisa Boren lookout which has a great view of Lake Washington and towns on the East side of the lake. Good from dawn to dusk. (10 minute drive from hotel)
