The Beginning of Our Story…

As it turns out, Milana and Bryson had been connected by an invisible string long before they ever realized it. Before they even knew of one another, they had each become close friends with people from the other's hometown, high school, and college circles, making it almost surprising that they hadn't met sooner. Their story unofficially began in October 2019 during their sophomore year at Texas Tech. One afternoon, Milana agreed to give a ride home to her close high school friend, DeAndre Johns, after class. What she didn't know was that DeAndre's roommate and one of his closest fraternity brothers, Bryson, would be joining them too. To this day, the two remember that short car ride differently: Milana insists she tried making conversation about an upcoming fraternity party and felt like Bryson was completely uninterested, while Bryson claims he was simply too distracted by her awful driving to focus on much else. Their paths wouldn't cross again until February 15, 2020, during a night out at the infamous Kongs nightclub in Lubbock—the night their story officially began. Once again, DeAndre unknowingly stepped into the role of matchmaker. While she and her best friend, Kathryn Medrano, were texting friends to meet up that night, Milana reached out to DeAndre. He mentioned that although he was staying in that night, Bryson happened to already be out at Kongs and suggested the two meet up. Unbeknownst to either of them, DeAndre had sent them both the exact same message, encouraging them to find each other. Not long after, the two quite literally ran into each other while waiting in line for a drink. Having completely forgotten about their brief introduction months earlier, they were essentially meeting for the first time all over again—relying solely on DeAndre's descriptions of one another to figure out who they were looking for. A few simple texts, a second chance encounter, and a random decision by both of them to go out that night—despite being exhausted after a long day of day drinking—ended up changing the course of their lives forever.

Building The Foundation…

After countless near misses and finally finding each other, of course something else had to get in the way. COVID-19 decided to put their new connection to the test, forcing them both to return to their hometowns as the pandemic brought their sophomore year to an abrupt end. Although they were still in the early stages of getting to know one another, the two were motivated to keep the connection going through countless hours and late nights of texting and FaceTiming, and even managed to squeeze in a couple of in-person dates thanks to their hometowns being only a short drive apart. By the time they both returned to Lubbock for their junior year in August 2020, what could have been an awkward reunion felt anything but. Months apart, while life had slowed down for the first time in a long time, gave each of them the opportunity to truly get to know one another and build a strong foundation, making it feel as though they had never been apart at all. They quickly picked up right where they left off, growing even closer as they finally got to spend more time together in person. On the night of September 26, 2020, after months of being in the “talking” stage, Bryson officially asked Milana to be his girlfriend. The years ahead would be filled with unforgettable memories, a few unexpected challenges, and plenty of reasons to keep choosing each other.

Growing Together…

Milana and Bryson made the most of every opportunity to spend time together, and anyone who knows them knows they were—and still are—practically inseparable. Between classes, game days, late-night food runs, vacations, spontaneous weekend road trips, and way too many concerts and music festivals to count, the two quickly realized they had found not only a partner in one another, but their best friend as well. Of course, their relationship still faced its challenges. What seemed like an endless cycle of long-distance summers eventually turned into a full school year apart after Milana graduated in the spring of 2022 and returned to San Antonio to begin her career, while Bryson remained in Lubbock to complete his final year of college. Fortunately, by that point, the two had become pros at long-distance dating. Once again, the time apart—and their shared faith in God's plan for their relationship—only continued to strengthen the foundation they had built together. In the spring of 2023, Bryson graduated and moved to San Antonio, ending what had felt like years of never being able to stay in the same place together for very long. A few months later, in August 2023, the two moved in together for the first time.

The Next Chapter…

On November 29, 2025, Bryson finally popped the question and proposed to Milana at one of their favorite places, Grape Creek Vineyards in Fredericksburg, Texas. Today, the two still call San Antonio home with their two crazy Bengal cat “daughters,” Grimes and Ruby, and are counting down the days until they officially begin their next chapter as husband and wife on April 2, 2027.
