Travel Note

STEAMSHIP AUTHORITY

Please know that transit to Martha's Vineyard does require ferry service via the Steamship Authority located in Falmouth, MA. While walk on passenger tickets are available day of travel, we do encourage guests who wish to explore the island to book a car reservation. Car reservations should be made as early as possible. If walking onto the ferry, you will park at one of two lots provided by the Steamship. The Steamship’s website will advise on which lot is open at your time of travel. Updates are live and we advise checking availability once you are on the Cape. The ferry docks in either Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. Both are centralized locations, so don’t worry about which port you are coming into!

Flight

You can also fly to the Vineyard! Most of the planes that come here fit about 12 people, and there's a chance you could be sitting next to the pilot. Personally, we love the experience, but it's definitely not for everyone.

Rental Car

If you're unable to bring your own car over, but still want the freedom to explore the island at your leisure, there are on island rental car services available. We recommend booking as early as possible.

Travel Note

TAXIS

There are typically taxi cabs available at both Steamship ports upon arrival. (And yes, we have Uber and Lyft here too!) It's easy to get a taxi in the Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, and Vineyard Haven but for trips to the more rural parts of the island, you will want to schedule pick ups and drop offs a few hours in advanced.
