Mont Aigu

Hike up Mt Aigu. Mt Aigu is right behind Le Mas des Oules. It is an old volcanic plug, and not very high, but it is a nice walk. Head for St. Victor des Oules. Before you get to the village, you will see a trail signed for the Madonna of Mt. Aigu. There is a statue of the Madonna on top, and a look out tower, but the best views are a few dozen meters to the left from the top of some large boulders.

This is the best, and most expensive, wine region in the southern Rhone. The village is a temple to wine, with many a Cave offering tastings. The red is one of the great wines of France with the capacity to improve when aged in the bottle for up to 20 years.
