How We Met

Mike was with some of his friends out for dinner, while Kaiti was out with hers watching the Brewer game. One of Mike’s friends sent a SnapChat photo of Mike taking a bite of his Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with the caption “He’s Single Ladies” to Kaiti, who responded with “Who is that? Introduce me!” The friend that Kaiti was watching the Brewer game with is actually friends with Mike also, who encouraged Mike to reach out to Kaiti.

The Proposal

September 5, 2020

Background information: For Kaiti’s 29th birthday, November 16, 2019, Mike hand-made Kaiti a “29” shaped cribbage board with the words “Happy 29th Birthday Kaiti!” engraved on the back. On September 5, 2020, Mike and Kaiti had plans to go out for dinner at The Stone Cellar (the same place that they had their first date) with friends Megan and Ryan Kilsdonk. Little did Kaiti know, Megan and Ryan were not actully coming out to eat dinner, but Mike knew that Kaiti wouldn’t say “no” to going out for dinner with her life-long friend, Megan. When Mike and Kaiti arrived at The Stone Cellar, Megan texted Kaiti that they would be a bit late for dinner, so Mike and Kaiti sat at a table in the bar area to wait for them to arrive. Mike asked Kaiti if she would like to play cribbage, and asked the bartender to get them a cribbage board. The bartender brought over the special “29” shaped cribbage board that Mike hand-made to the table. It didn’t take long for Kaiti to recognize her special cribbage board was at The Stone Cellar with them! Mike took the cribbage board and flipped it over, where there was a new slot engraved in the back of the board to hold the cribbage pegs and her engagement ring, with the words “Marry Me?” newly engraved in it. Mike got down on one knee and asked Kaiti to marry him. She said yes! To view pictures of the special hand-made “29” cribbage board, check out our “Photos” section!
