How we met

Buzzing around on Bumble

In today’s world, it’s way too easy to find someone online. To actually meet someone online that you’re going to marry??? CRAZY!! Jenny and Mike live 30-40min apart and meeting up was not an easy task. Jenny had to go to a funeral, for a dear friend, that was close to Mike and “decided to kill two birds with one stone” (she did ask if that was “too soon”). They met at the Blue Anchor and mildly hit it off. Luckily, Hurricane Irma was rolling around and it took Mike ten days to ask her on the next date (ten days was probably perfect for her). They went to a Brad Paisley concert and the rest is history. It’s also worth mentioning that Mike and Friends bought a boat on their first day and they started off with a great interest in common. Now, they are getting married and can’t believe how lucky they are to have met. Together, they have traveled to over ten countries, embarked on many adventures and have really enjoyed their zest for life together.

The engagement

Talullah Falls, GA

The anticipation was high, according to Jenny, but Mike was determined to make it a surprise. Jenny and Mike went to Georgia to visit Sara and Ryan Gielow at their family's "mountain house." (FYI, this story is according to Jenny) They arrived on a Thursday to which they got to meet with one of Jenny's cousins, Brent, and some friends of Jenny’s from college. No trip would be complete without a winery stop. On Friday afternoon, Mike asked Jenny if she wanted a card. She, of course, said yes. He proceeded to pull out what she thought was 12 cards. She meticulously picked one out and read the sweet words. "Jenny, I love you. Michael." She asked if the other 11 cards said that and he said, "I don't know, you will have to find out in a half hour. As it was noon, she quickly did the math and thought to herself, "if I get a card every half hour, I should be getting engaged by 6 pm." They met their friends at the winery and proceeded with the night to which did not end in her expected ending. The next morning they went on a hike to Talullah Falls. If you have not been you are missing out. Its just beautiful. They went to the gorge which sound exactly like it is. Upon their arrival at the top everyone starting taking pictures. It was Mike and Jenny's turn. Mike asked Jenny if she wanted her next card. He got down on his knee and Jenny opened her final anchor themed card. The words, " will you marry me" came across and nothing else mattered to her. No one even knows if she said yes but she quickly kissed him and smiled like she has never smiled before. Their friends set up a champagne picnic for them and let them enjoy their next hour as a newly engaged couple. Later they met their friends and Mike gave her an anchor shirt and he put on anchor shorts. If you don't know....Mike and Jenny had their first date at the Blue Anchor and Mike made a romantic theme around it. The view, the day and the proposal could not have been any better.
