We met on the *vintage* online dating site OkCupid while both living alone in Boston in late 2019. Jen had a photo of herself at Holy Cross in her OkCupid profile, and being a fellow HC graduate, Mike messaged Jen with the opening line, "Did you go to Holy Cross?" On a snowy December 2nd, 2019, Mike and Jen met up half way between their apartments--just one mile away from each other--for coffee (Jen was unsurprisingly late). After coffee Jen suggested they get a drink next door at the Bebop, and that's where they became smitten and very excited about each other. After hours of talking, Jen and Mike parted ways with a kiss in the snow and their love story began. Just a few months after starting to date, COVID lockdowns began. Mike and Jen each went to stay with their parents for a couple months, but throughout quarantine, they found creative ways to keep dating. They watched movies together on their laptops, Mike taught Jen guitar chords over Facetime, they met each other's relatives and friends over Zoom calls. Jen and Mike finally reunited when Jen came to stay with Mike at his parents' house, where she met his parents for the first time from 40 feet away and behind a sheet. On July 12, 2024, they got engaged in the Back Bay, on the same route they walked so many times in between their apartments while dating. They celebrated with their parents and ended their night with a drink--at the same bar, in the same seats, where they had those snowy night drinks back in 2019.
