Things To Do

We're so excited to welcome you to our homeland and share some of the places and experiences we love most. From incredible food to unforgettable sights, here are a few of our favorite things to do and places to eat. We hope you enjoy exploring Taiwan as much as we do!

Night Markets

Taiwan

One of the best things about Taipei is its incredible night markets! One of our favorite things to do in town with an endless variety of tasty local snacks. Visiting at least one is a must while you're here! Heads up though, it is cash only. Food

Taiwan

Taipei is known for its incredible food scene, and it goes well beyond the night markets. Here are a few of our favorites that we think everyone should try: Beef Noodle Soup – Mike's all-time favorite. Breakfast, lunch, dinner... beef noods. Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings) – You can find these almost everywhere, and they rarely disappoint. Taro, Taro, Taro – If it's made with taro, Eva is probably ordering it. Taro ice cream, taro buns, taro balls... taro everything. Shāobǐng Yóutiáo (Taiwanese Breakfast Sandwich) – A crispy fried dough stick wrapped in a flaky sesame flatbread. Add an egg and some hot sauce, and you may never look at breakfast the same way again. Bubble Tea (Boba) – It was invented in Taiwan, so you're drinking it at the source. Try one... then try five more.

Shopping

Taiwan

Taipei shopping does not get enough credit. Great exchange rate with elite foods and brands. Here are a few areas with some very broad generalizations we made: Taipei 101 Mall – Bougie. Luxury brands, designer shopping, and a gorgeous mall. Ximending – Young, trendy, and full of energy. Great for shopping, bars, street food, and people-watching. Taipei City Mall – A massive underground maze packed with shops, anime, gaming, electronics, and arcades. Dihua Street – Traditional Taiwan. Historic streets filled with local shops, tea, dried goods, and unique souvenirs.

Hot Springs

Soak in Taiwan's famous natural hot springs, stroll through the charming streets, and enjoy a relaxing escape just 30 minutes from downtown.

Elephant Mountain Trail

Taiwan

One of Taipei's most iconic hikes, Elephant Mountain offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and Taipei 101. The hike is short but steep, taking about 20–30 minutes to reach the main viewpoints. We recommend visiting around sunset or in the evening to see the city lights come alive—it's well worth the climb!

Jiufen (Spirited Away Town)

Taiwan

A picturesque mountain town known for its winding alleyways, glowing lanterns, incredible street food, and stunning ocean views. It's one of Taiwan's most iconic day trips and well worth the visit. If you like anime, Spirited Away was inspired by this town!
