Question

What about COVID-19?

Answer

The hope is that the pandemic will be more under control by end of summer 2021 so that friends and family can travel to and attend our wedding safely. If 2020 has been an indication of what's to come, then we know this virus is still going to be an issue at our wedding. The health of our loved ones is the most important thing. We will be following all the guidelines and recommendations put in place by the MN Government. Our venue hosted over 50 weddings during the height of the pandemic and had 0 cases traced back to their events. We are working closely with the venue and are taking all necessary precautions during our planning to accommodate for following these procedures. Our ceremony will be held outdoors and the reception will utilize outdoor spaces, have adequate air flow in the barn, and ample room for social distancing. The dancing will be outside too! Please review the Minnesota State website for additional info: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/

Question

Will you be angry if we do not come due to COVID?

Answer

Absolutely NOT! If you are uncomfortable attending, for any reason, know that we respect your decision not to come. Your health and safety are paramount and while we would love to have you there to celebrate with us, we understand the severity and possible risk of infection. Tensions are high and the anxiety surrounding travel and attending gatherings are great. We hope you take these things into consideration when deciding to attend or not, as we are not liable for your decision or actions. If you know you will not be able to attend we ask that you please let us know. If you want to wait to see what happens and decide later, please do so. You have until July 2021 to decide!

Question

How long have you been together?

Answer

We met in August 2018 and starting dating that September. Leah moved in with Mike in July 2019. We got engaged over Thanksgiving 2019. By the time we get married in September 2021 we will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary!

Question

Will there be an engagement party?

Answer

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we had to cancel our party while still in the planning stages. We were hoping to have the party on the East Coast in August 2020. Now we'll be skipping this on the path to our wedding day. It's ok, we're not too sad about it.

Question

Where are we getting married?

Answer

IN MINNESOTA! Mike is a born and bred Minnesotan. Leah, originally from Rhode Island, has been living in the Twin Cities since 2014. Her and Mike met and fell in love here so they wanted it to be the back drop for the start of their next chapter together.

Question

Why did you pick a Friday for your wedding?

Answer

In Viking culture it was custom to marry on Fridays because it is Frigg's Day and she is the goddess of marriage. In order to have her bless your union you had to marry on her day. We want to be blessed. Fun fact: this is where Friday gets it's name, from Frigg, and Thursday is actually named after Thor!

Question

What do you mean you're having a Pagan-Jewish wedding?

Answer

Mike's Nordic heritage is very important to him so we've chosen to blend ancient Viking traditions with Leah's Jewish culture to create our own unique wedding. Aspects of both religions will be noted throughout the day.

Question

When should we RSVP by?

Answer

JULY 15th 2021 If you know already, cool, if you want to wait until you get your official invite that's great too!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

It's a wedding so let's get dressed up! Yes it's kinda outside and it might be hot but we're gonna be pretty so you should be too. You don't have to go full formal but blue jeans are discouraged. That being said come how you are and BE READY TO DANCE!

Question

What is the weather gonna be like?

Answer

Chances are it will be hot and humid to remind you of what you'll miss as summer ends, however in 2020, it was a cool 72º with sunshine and a breeze. So basically, we can't tell you what to expect but hopefully, it won't snow!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We love the people you choose to love! If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, bring them along! If not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Are children invited to the wedding?

Answer

As much as we love your kiddos, we regretfully cannot accommodate them due to current restrictions. Unless otherwise noted on your invitation, we ask that only adults attend.

Question

What about my food allergies?

Answer

If you don't tell us, then we can't help you and you'll just have to starve to death. Please contact us with all food preferences! Even if you know that we know that you're a vegetarian/gluten free/kosher/vegan who's allergic to nuts. If you don't tell us we will NOT be planning to accommodate you.

Question

Will there be an open bar or a cash bar?

Answer

OPEN BAR with a limited menu of beer, wine, vodka, and whiskey. *Please drink responsibly. We're required to have security on the premises for the reception.

Question

Does the venue have parking?

Answer

Yes! there's ample parking at Erickson's Farmstead and they've agreed to allow for overnight parking if you end up getting carried away with festivities and cannot drive home.

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

We've created lists on Zola and Amazon! Thank you so much for considering a gift for us! Links are on this site.

Question

Why do your registries have such limited gift options?

Answer

Honestly? Because Mike hates stuff and Leah already has a lot of it. Cash gifts are preferred over material goods.

Question

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Answer

We're not going on one but maybe one day... Mike wants to go to Norway and Scotland. Leah can't decide between going to Costa Rica or Australia.

Question

I'm traveling to MN, do you recommend renting a car?

Answer

Yes, we do! Our wedding venue is almost 1 hour away from the airport, which means it's almost an hour away from all the sights and fun stuff in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Since there is a lot of people invited from out of state we won't be able to act as taxi or put anyone up at our home, so if getting around is important to you, definitely rent a vehicle or plan to pay for a lot of rides in an Uber/Lyft!

Question

What about hotel accommodations?

Answer

We've made a hotel block at Best Western in Blaine, MN (which is a a northern suburb about 15 minutes from our home) and we'll have a school bus rented to provide shuttle services to and from the venue for our wedding. This hotel is a good midway point between the cities and our venue. You can find more info on our travel tab!

Question

I'm traveling to MN for your wedding. What else can I do that weekend?

Answer

SO MUCH!! We're getting married at the start of Labor Day weekend. Pending COVID, MN will be a blaze with final summer shenanigans. Visit the State Fair, a lake, museum, go to a concert or baseball game, shop The Mall of America, or check out some of the best breweries in the country. We'll have a complete list on this site to help guide you! If you're looking for something specific to do, please contact us so we can help you figure it out! We're hoping that COVID-19 closures will not be effecting life by this time and we'll make sure you are in the loop when it comes to the virus, health restrictions, and fun things to do.
