Make reservations in advance! - The Ocean House (Dennis) - Del Mar Bar and Bistro (Chatham) - Pates (Chatham) - Cape Sea Grille (Harwich Port) - Fin (East Dennis) - The West End (Hyannis) Also, can't forget about Ice Cream in the Cape! - Sundae School (Harwich Port) - Short n' Sweet (Chatham)
A trip to the Cape is not complete without seeing the Beach. The Cape actually has a very special, protected beach line called the national seashore: Forty miles of pristine sandy beach, marshes, ponds, and uplands support a large and diverse ecosystem. Lighthouses, cultural landscapes, and wild cranberry bogs offer a glimpse of Cape Cod's past and continuing ways of life. The beaches and walking / biking trails beckon today's visitors. And did we forget to mention... SHARKS ??? Swim at your own risk :) Our favorite day at the beach includes bringing lunch sandwiches, a cooler of beers, a speaker, and beach games. Then we like to watch the countless seals swim by as we point out each one of them. Parking passes are $25 per vehicle per entry, or $60 for annual pass (so, if you spend a week in the Cape and plan on visiting 3x, the annual pass makes more sense!). Here are our favorite beaches: - Nauset Light Beach - Marconi Beach - Race Point Beach
When you visit the Cape, you have to eat Lobster. We recommend a couple of great spots for this: - Spanky's Clamshack in Hyannisport (great lobster roll) - Mac's Chatham Fish and Lobster - Alberto's Ristorante in Hyannis
Our favorite brewery in the Cape! We highly recommend you stop by, enjoy the life music and a bite, and enjoy a couple of fun (very different!) beers. We like to grab a couple to go and bring them on our Cape beach days! This is our favorite brewery, but here are a couple more just in case: o Hog Island Brewery - Orleans o Aquatic Brewery - Falmouth o Cape Cod Beer – Hyannis o Devil’s Purse – South Dennis o Tree House Brewing Company – Sandwich o Bad Martha – East Falmouth
If time allows, we highly recommend one of the following nature walks! - The Knob (Falmouth) - can do this on your drive in or out of the Cape. Check out picture on Google Maps! - Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary - right next to Marconi beach - Lowell Holly Reservation - right next to Naukabout Brewery
If you decide to stay a couple of extra days: consider a day trip to Nantucket! There are a couple of ferries to Nantucket from Hyannis, Falmouth, and one actually leaves right from Harwich. Here are a couple of our favorite stops in Nantucket: - Cisco Brewery is a one stop shop for excellent food carts, live music, and awesome beer. You can spend a whole day here. It's paradise. - Shop around the port/village area - Get coffee at Corner Table or Born & Bread - Go to Surfside beach - Bike to Sconset and explore / do the Bluff Walk
If you have an extra day, consider a day trip to Martha's! Ferries to Martha's depart from Hyannisport and Falmouth. From there, we like to rent bikes and explore the island on two wheels. Here are some stops we recommend: - Sit in Ocean Park - Walk through the Secret Garden - Get Back Door Donuts - Jump off the Jaws Bridge - Get coffee / breakfast from Espresso Love or Among the Flowers Cafe - Relax at Bad Martha's Brewery - Ride the Chappy Ferry - Aquinnah Cliffs
