In 2022, Mikayla transferred to UTSA, eager to start fresh and meet new people. Determined to make connections, she threw herself into campus life—studying in every corner of the university and joining as many clubs as she could fit into her schedule. One afternoon, while poring over her notes on the third floor of the library, her phone battery threatened to cut her study session short. (she needs her music) Instead of trudging downstairs to rent a charger, she leaned over to the person sitting nearby and asked, with a hopeful smile, if they had a spare. That person was Riley. What started as a casual favor quickly turned into an animated conversation. They laughed, shared stories, and soon discovered they were in the same club. By the time they parted ways that day, it was clear they’d clicked. From that chance encounter, Mikayla and Riley’s relationship blossomed, and they’ve been inseparable ever since—proof that sometimes the best connections come when you least expect them. Now, 3 years later, they are excited to spend the rest of their lives together with the small family that they have already built With their cat Frank and their dog Juniper.
