How He Proposed

From Worst to Best

We were flying from Atlanta, GA to Fresno, CA for the holidays with one stop in Denver. Once we landed in Denver we were told our flight to Fresno was cancelled and they rerouted us to have a stop in LAX airport and we were to arrive in Fresno a couple hours later than originally planned. However, as soon as we landed in LAX we learned that our flight to Fresno had been delayed by 12 hours, not only that but customer service was closed! We had to spend the night in the airport but there was no dark areas to sleep so we crawled under a charging station to try to get some shut-eye. This was made even more difficult because of the loud, frequent intercom announcements. Around 1:30 a.m. Kenyon decided he was going to try to use my earmuffs to block out the noise and started digging around in the backpack. Then he pulled out a box. He didn't say a single word, no heartfelt compliments, no sharing the depths of his love for me, he didn't even ask me to marry him. All I could think before he opened the box was that it had to be earrings or something because there was NO WAY this man was proposing to me in the middle of our unplanned layover, in an airport we weren't even scheduled to be in, while the intercom is blaring, on the hard floor. Then he opened the box and there was a ring. He just stared at me. Silently. He then proceeded to close the box and put it back in the backpack and said, "I guess this isn't the right time." I was still in shock so i just grabbed his hand with the box and then said "You are missing a crucial part of this process... aren't you going to ask?" Then he finally asked me to marry him and the rest is history. One of my best friends told me that from now on when we are at an airport and the intercom goes off we can say, "This is our song!"
