We encourage pastels and floral colors for our special day. We prefer longer dresses and suits if you have them! Join us on the fancy endeavors if you are up for it! Please no jeans!
I officially met Jordan through our close friend, Dakoda. The first time he messaged me was on the Fourth of July while I was working at the hospital. He told me he was having fun—while I, of course, was not! Although it wasn’t our first date, the first time we truly spent time together was when Jordan invited me to his flag football game with his Celebration Cinema team. At the game, I got to meet many of his friends and see his fun, playful personality in action. About halfway through the game, Jordan got injured, and being a nurse, I couldn’t help but patch him up. Afterward, we went for pizza, and I ended up devouring an entire pizza all by myself. If you ask Jordan, that’s when he knew I was going to be his future wife—and the rest, as they say, is history!
Our first year of dating was a lot of driving back and forth between Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Big Rapids. I had just started nursing school at Ferris University, so I spent hours on the road each week, going to class and visiting Jordan on the weekends. I even considered studying in bed while watching him play video games as “quality time” during that first year. After a challenging start, Jordan decided to move in with me in Grand Rapids—thank goodness! From there, we were able to spend so much more time together. We traveled for the first time, he learned how to golf, we had weekly dates, I convinced him to scuba dive, and we did a lot of other fun things together. Although we were eager to take the next steps, we both decided to focus on finishing our degrees and bettering ourselves first. Jordan completed his degree in accounting at the University of Phoenix, and I graduated from nursing school. Now that we’re both in a good place, we’re ready to move forward with marriage and starting our family in the next few years.
Jordan and I got engaged on a beautiful, rainy afternoon in Minnesota. That morning, we went shopping at the Mall of America, and for most of the day, he kept his nerves under control—even with the constant checking of the weather to see if the rain would hold off! He was extra sweet, buying me coffee, insisting on getting me souvenir t-shirts, and even opening doors for me. After the mall, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner with my parents and our family friend, Cole. I was told to dress up nicely, and my parents suggested we stop by a local park to see the waterfall on the way to dinner—right then, my suspicions started to rise! Once we were at the park and walking down to the waterfall, I could tell by Jordan's body language what was coming. All those nerves seemed to fly out the window, haha. But he still managed to ask me to marry him on the cobblestone bridge in front of the waterfall with everyone watching. FINALLY! His speech may have been shorter than he planned, but it was still a beautiful proposal—one I can’t wait to tell our kids about someday. ♥ And don't worry, I got to hear the full speech later that night in our beautifully decorated hotel room, complete with a "Mrs." glass of wine and "bride-to-be" slippers! ♥ Thank you, Mom and Dad. And then comes marriage... see you all in September to tie the knot!
