https://www.zola.com/registry/miguelandstacey It would be impossible to register for gifts and get things shipped to Peru so we decided to ask our family and friends to help us get to our honeymoon destination.
No, even though the travel agency is based in Peru they process all credit card transactions in the United States in order to avoid these fees
You will need to fly into the Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima (airport code LIM) and then get a connecting flight to Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco (airport code CUZ). ***Please keep in mind that even if you book all of your flights on the same itinerary, you will still need to pick up your checked luggage in Lima! You will then need to recheck your bags for the flight to Cusco. Trust me, I speak from experience***
Please visit the CDC website for specifics https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/peru or call your local travel clinic. If you only plan to visit Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu then you do NOT need to have the yellow fever vaccination and do NOT need malaria prophylaxis. Please refer to the website regarding vaccinations for Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B etc. If you plan on visiting the rain forest then you will need the yellow fever vaccination and also malaria prophylaxis. Also, please be mindful of Zika virus and get appropriate insect repellant. Please refer to the following site for repellant recommendations: https://www.cdc.gov/zika/prevention/prevent-mosquito-bites.html
Yes. The elevation in Cusco is a little over 11,000 feet (as a comparison, Denver is 6,000 feet). Machu Picchu is slightly under 8,000 feet and Puno is 12,500 feet. (I forgot to take my altitude meds when I went to Puno and I was convinced I was going to die). Please visit your local travel clinic for additional information and a prescription for medication
NO!!!! (Well, I suppose you can if you wanted to but you and your GI tract will regret it)
If you give me your flight arrival times, Miguel and I will make our best efforts to pick you up from the airport. We will also provide transportation from Cusco to our home in Andahuaylillas the night before the wedding. Because everyone will be on a different travel itinerary you will likely need to arrange transportation back to the airport (Veronica Fernandez can assist you with this)
Absolutely!!! You are more than welcome to stay with us and we have plenty of room. I will warn you though, there is not much to do in the town of Andahuaylillas. Cusco proper is about 45 minutes away and has a lot to offer as far as restaurants, shopping, nightlife, etc (they even have a Starbucks!). Because the wedding day starts early on Saturday we figured everyone can stay at our home on Friday night and then everyone can walk to the church around the corner on Saturday. (ladies, please be mindful when choosing your footwear... cobblestone streets). The reception will go as late as people want to stay and eat and drink so I expect it would be easier for everyone to stay in our home on Saturday night as well.
High around 68 and Low around 35 degrees. FYI, May is the tail end of "rainy season". The prediction for May 5th is "some sun with a thunderstorm in spots" Please bring warm clothes to sleep in! It will get down into the mid 30s at night and there is no central heating.
Maybe yes...maybe no... I usually turn on the water, say a little prayer, and hope for the best. I'm just going to go ahead and say it... May 5th is my day so I get priority with the morning shower! (I guess it's Miguel's day too but he's from South America so he should be used to cold showers by now)
