Question

Answer

Jet Blue from Fort Lauderdale & New York JFK Delta from Altanta American Airlines from Miami Spirit from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando

Question

How do I get from the Airport to the Hotel?

Answer

The wedding concierge can arrange private transportation for you at concierge@bodaseleganza.com. Taxis are also very easy and safe to use from the airport taxi stand. You just tell the attendant where you are going and then you receive a ticket with a fixed fair to the destination. Make sure to get cash first. See the Exchanging Money FAQ.

Question

Getting Around in Cartagena

Answer

Uber is the cheapest form of transportation and good if you don't speak Spanish. But make sure you select black car as that's equivalent quality to UberX in the US. Tourism Taxis are also a good form of transportation. These are the white SUV or Vans that say Turismo on the outside. They are affordable and good quality. Make sure to only take taxis from designated taxi areas or request them from the hotels. It's recommended to ask the price before you get in the taxi.

Question

Exchanging Money

Answer

If you are taking a taxi from the airport, make sure to exchange money first. The best exchange rates are generally from bank ATM's. There are ATM machines located in the domestic departures seating area outside of security. You can find ATM machines from Banco de Bogotá, BBVA and Servibanca. In addition, outside the terminal from domestic arrivals you can find a Bancolombia ATM machine at the airport. Exchange rates change all the time, but a good approximation comparing to USD is take off 3 zeros and then divide by 3. So for example 300,000 pesos is about $100 dollars.

Question

Is Cartagena Safe?

Answer

The quick answer is yes, but you should just use a little common sense. There are dangerous parts you shouldn't go to just like any city in the US. The tourist areas are safe, but it is a third world country, so you should keep a lower profile like don't wear jewelry, don't count money in public and limit use of your phone in the street. Usually crime consists of grabbing your purse or phone out of your hands and running away. Never leave your drink unattended. Keep aware of your surroundings and don't get excessively inebriated outside of the wedding/hotel.
