Walk or bike (don't scoot it, we tried once, its not allowed -ha ha) across the bridge (or just view it from popular overlooks like the Marin Headlands, Baker Beach, or the bridge's visitor pavilion). Tip: If biking, consider renting in the morning for lighter crowds and calmer light.

Alcatraz Island A visit to SF wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Alcatraz Island! Once home to the country’s most infamous federal prison, Alcatraz offers a fascinating glimpse into history — complete with incredible stories, scenic ferry rides, and unbeatable views of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Whether you’re a history buff or just love a good adventure, it’s an experience you won’t forget! Plus I heard it's haunted, although I've never seen a ghost when I visited--boo! Please note: Visitors reach the island by ferry, operated exclusively by Alcatraz City Cruises. Recommend booking in advance as timeslots fill up fast, especially on a holiday weekend.

San Francisco Cable Car

Riding the SF cable cars are one of the most iconic SF experiences and a fun must do while you are in town! Don't forget to hang off the side! There are three (3) cable car lines, but the Powell-Hyde line is the classic. It runs from Union Sq up over Nob Hill (where our wedding takes place!) and down to Fishman's Wharf. It's the most scenic route, with postcard views of the bay and Alcatraz. Ticket & Fare Details A single-ride ticket costs $9.00 for adults. You can purchase tickets via the official mobile app MuniMobile, or use a Clipper Card. The Powell–Hyde line runs daily, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Just a short stroll away, Pier 39 offers fun for everyone—boutique shops, great restaurants, street performers, and of course the famous sea lions lounging by the docks. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a clam chowder bread bowl, take in the ocean breeze, or simply wander and soak up the city’s charm.
