AKA: Seester, Tiff and Best Woman This girl has been with me for 28 years of my life. I always tell people that she’s a better human than I am. Even though she’s a few years younger than me, I look up to her in so many ways. We’ve been through hell and high water together. Somehow she keeps me sane on my craziest days and adds her outrageous cackle to mine when we really get rolling. She’s the only one I would get locked in prison for and I will CUT anyone who ever messes with her. She is both sharp shooting and the most compassionate heart I’ve ever known.

AKA: Kate, Skittles, Best Friend Having a friend that you’ve walked closely with for so long is a greater gift than I even know how to express. Our hunger for God started to grow around the same time and we haven’t looked back since. When I’ve struggled to remember who I am, she’s been a constant reminder. My talk-for-hours-on-end while sipping wine gal pal, my unfiltered processing space where we can say anything and everything, my say-it-like-it-is partner in crime. She is a constant oasis and the voice that makes me feel like my crazy is not so crazy after all. She is creative and 100% authenticity embodied.

AKA: D, Twin, God’s Saving Grace D moved here right as my life was falling apart a few years ago. Everyone thinks they moved here because of Jason’s job as a pastor at NewSong but Jesus and I both know that she was His gift of a friend for me. She has the couch I crash on most often with charcuterie boards and ice cream, the one who will cheesily twin without hesitation, and the one who (for better or worse) understands what it means to be an Enneagram 9 like me! I feel like I can fully be myself around her, even when I want to hide from the world. She’s a fiery blend of justice and grace.

AKA: Lauren, Friendy, My first “real friend” in DC Lauren is 100% the reason why I felt like I could stay in DC after moving here over 11 years ago. I felt so overwhelmed and lonely in the big city but when I met this girl, I knew I had what I needed to be able to stay. She’s seen my ugliest mess and loved me into freedom, she’s been a prophetic voice that has spoken timely words straight from heaven, and she’s the one I can always count on to totally geek out over healthy foods and clean eating. Lauren is a total boss who worked at the White House but also is one of the sweetest most bubbly people I’ve ever met. You can find her around any type of person and she feels completely comfortable helping everyone belong. She is truth and hope firmly planted.

AKA: Em, Friend, My adventure buddy Who knew you could grow closer with someone after moving across the country?! I would have said it was impossible, but Em proves it to be true. She’s the friend who taught me how to check in with my heart, the one who modeled what it means to be there for someone in the hard seasons, and the one I can count on to fill a pack and live in the wilderness for days on end with me. She’s the one who will ask you the hardest and best questions and be there to cheer you on no matter what choices you make. Em: Never judging, always believing. This girl is fierce & brave.

AKA: Faithy, Princess, My favorite girl I mean it when I say that Faithy is one of my favorite humans on the planet! We became best buds when she was 4 and I started nannying for her and her 5 brothers. You better believe she’s a tough cookie after being raised with those guys! We’ve spent hoursssss in the car driving to and from dance class, making dance videos, taking silly pictures, and talking about alllll the things. She’s the youngest Babe in our squad, but also one of the funnest people to be around. Faith has one of the biggest most generous hearts on the planet, can be counted on for encouragement and prayer, and I couldn’t imagine getting married without her being by my side. She is a fountain of joy and expressive freedom.

AKA: Lysa, Lys, Sis Lys is my newest friend and bonus sister! I remember telling Nahum after meeting Elyse “She feels like my sister”. I was completely welcomed into the family with open arms and plates full of authentic Haitian food. This woman can COOK y’all, and she’s making alllll the food for our rehearsal dinner (enter praise break)!!! Everyone knows that Nahum & Elyse are each others favorites in their family. She’s an “all in” kinda person and will do ANYTHING for the people she loves. She gets my obsession with pajamas and sweatpants & early bed times. She’s to blame/thank for me being completely surprised at Nahum’s proposal while also making sure my nails were freshly on point for the occasion. She is bold and she is heavens hospitality.
