September 4th, 2018 - First Date
Michelle and Larson met in 2017. She was working for a nonprofit helping to build new markets for local producers, and he had just begun his career as a full-time farmer at Sunshine Cove Farm. Each week, Larson would deliver produce to the Food Hub hoping for an excuse to chat up the girl checking in his orders (whom he secretly admired). Michelle was busy serving the mission and working on her graduate thesis, but dreamed of finding a partner to love and build a homestead with. The two worked at different booths at the Watauga County Farmers' Market that summer, but it wasn't until the following year on September 4th, 2018 when Michelle approached Larson to recruit him to join the new Tuesday market that he got up the courage to show up afterwards for the weekly taco Tuesday tradition at a neighboring restaurant. He joined Michelle and her friends for a beer and some tacos and the chemistry was immediate. He asked her on a date that following Saturday and they've been inseparable ever since, as partners in business and in life. September 4th, 2023 - Proposal
After the second date, when they created and enjoyed a massive slip and slide during a hurricane force rainstorm, they knew it was meant to be. The two quickly realized they had a shared vision for the future, and it motivated them to work tirelessly building their farm business and expanding their side hustles - all in an effort to one day buy some land of their own where they could pursue their passions. They found ways to increase the production of microgreens and edible flowers year after year, learned how to raise and hatch their own quail, and Michelle became the Director of the Watauga County Farmers' Market. In January 2023 their dream came true, and they purchased a little farmhouse on a few acres on the ridge above their beloved Valle. They inherited three sweet hens with the property and welcomed three precious lambs to the farm that summer and four more the following spring. Moonglow Meadow Farmstead was born, and he proposed to her on their front porch on the fifth anniversary of that first fateful taco Tuesday on September 4th, 2023. She said "YES!", and they both can't wait to spend forever growing together, tending their flock, and building an empire.
