We recommend staying somewhere in Banner Elk or Valle Crucis for ease of access, but Boone is less than 30 minutes away and has many more lodging options (not listed here). If you want to avoid traveling on windy mountain roads, we advise staying local to Banner Elk and driving into town via Tynecastle Hwy. rather than taking Hwy. 194 through Valle Crucis.
