So as we are getting closer to the actual wedding date it's feeling more and more real, but also we are just crossing our fingers and praying it happens! We realize that the COVID numbers here in Utah are rapidly on the rise and that may end up effecting our plans, but as long as we can get Isaac here there will be a wedding in some form! Here are our contingency plans so far and we will just have to continue to play it by ear: Plan A) Isaac makes it here safely and we have our small wedding at Pioneer Hall with family and friends joining in virtually. Plan B) Isaac makes it here safely and we have just our immediate family at the venue and everyone else joining virtually. Plan C) Isaac makes it here safely but the venue is closed due to COVID (its currently open for weddings but that could change) so we have a ceremony at Michelle's house with just our immediate family. As with all the plans, people would be able to join in virtually. Plan D) Isaac is not able to make it here due to flight and border complications and we have to post pone. As we get more info we will update you all but here's to hoping we get to be reunited after about 9months apart!! Also thank you so much to all of you who have texted/called/sent a card of your congratulations! It has warmed my heart to have people be so excited for us!
Isaac and I matched on a Mormon dating app called Mutual on Halloween 2019. We started messaging back and forth almost everyday for the next 6 weeks or so. At the time I had kind of friend zoned him because he lived 18 hours away by car in Alberta, Canada and also because his name is the same as my younger brother. Even though I was dating around and having fun, I slowly let my guard down and opened up to Isaac. We started video chatting on Facebook everyday and soon decided to become official. On New Years Eve Isaac made the 18 hour drive down to Utah and we had our first kiss, that was the beginning of this amazing new chapter in our lives!
The US/Canada border closed due to COVID19 in March while Isaac was in the US visiting. Now it's October and yes the border is still closed so we haven't seen each other in about 8 months. It has been so hard to be far away from each other for so long but it's really made our communication as a couple awesome! We've had to figure out different ways to have date nights and really make sure we prioritize each other. Isaac does such a wonderful job of making me feel loved even from miles away by calling on his way home from work and making sure we get to fall asleep on the phone together. I couldn't ask for a better man to marry! As a side note; yes the border is still, and will most likely continue to be, closed....by land. People can fly over the border but just not drive for some reason, at least into the US, the rules are different going the other way.
Isaac bought my ring back in January and we actually picked out his too while he here on that first visit. The plan originally was that he would come down to visit for my birthday on July 3rd and possibly propose then but then the border closure just kept getting extended with no foreseeable end. So since we haven't seen each other in person he hasn't gotten the chance to formally propose but Isaac has asked me to marry him many times and each time it gives me butterflies but my absolute favorite time, the one that felt most like a proposal, he didn't have to say anything at all. We were video chatting while he sat in his truck in the driveway just after getting home from work when the audio went out all of the sudden. I could see him and he could see and hear me just fine but I couldn't hear him. After that Isaac started teaching me some sign language, I know a little and its something I really want to get a better handle on, anyways we did that for probably an hour before he signed "will you marry me?" and I signed back "yes please."
