Hayley worked with the Hornbeam project while supporting vulnerable residents during COVID. This is a wonderful group that cares deeply about the wellbeing of everyone in Waltham Forest, a great opportunity to get stuck in and meet some incredible people. Scroll down to the volunteer opportunities section to see what you can get involved in!
Food insecurity is something we both feel strongly about. City Harvest delivers free surplus food to people across London facing food poverty. This is a great opportunity to do something flexible, at a time that suits you for as long or as little as you'd like, supporting in the warehouse, helping coordinate volunteers or helping to run events.
This is something very close to both of our hearts. Hayley has volunteered with asylum seekers in London for over two years and has been saddened to see so much negativity in the media which causes fear and division rather than solidarity and mutual support. We therefore invite our guests to get to know refugees or asylum seekers and see what interesting people you can meet. One thing's for sure, you will eat well and laugh often!
You don't have to join an organisation to do something good. Consider what small things you can do in your community, whether it's checking in on an elderly neighbour, keeping the green spaces near you clean, or helping a single mum near you with childcare, we all have something to offer. See what creative things you can come up with and don't forget to let us know!
