This incredible viewpoint is the highest point in Austin, standing 775 feet above sea level. It’s a popular tourist destination and provides incredible views of the city below. It overlooks beautiful Lake Austin and the surrounding hills and is a great place to end the day and watch the sun go down. Fun fact: This is where Nikko popped the question to Michele!
This area may look like your typical suburban road as you drive by, but as you walk the streets, you’ll find the area is bustling with life. These old homes were developed into modern bars and is a popular place for evening/night life! Whether you're looking to have a lovely afternoon with the kids or spend the evening drinking and listening to live music with friends, Rainey Street has you covered. As you peruse the area, you’ll find a variety of food trucks, bars, and quirky venues to check out.
Texas BBQ is a must when visiting Austin! This is our favorite BBQ spot and a popular tourist attraction when it comes to food. But only go if you have time to spare because a 2+ hour line often accompanies this popular spot! While the wait may be long, the brisket is worth it. Many tourists and locals alike rave about their experience at Franklin BBQ, but if you aren’t willing to wait, there are other fantastic BBQ spots nearby.
Terry Blacks BBQ is another great spot! Their brisket is mouth-watering and you can walk-off the meat sweat at Zilker Park. You can family-style it and get all the cornbread, sides, and meats you want!
For those from Chicago, the Domain is the equivalent to the Oakbrook Shopping Center. This area consists of an outdoor shopping mall with many restaurants and bars within. The Museum of Ice Cream, The Museum of Illusions, and Cap City Comedy Club is also located here. This is a great area to spend the day with kids and the family!
If you know us, you know that we never pass on a good Korean barbecue or sushi restaurant. This is a popular spot for all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ with meats cooked on tabletop grills. Come with an appetite! (And let us know if you're going and we'll gladly join you!)
Again, another all-you-can-eat option! This is a great Hot Pot restaurant, and it's perfect for that fall weather. They offer a variety of fresh ingredients and delicious soup bases, great for customizing your meal. Bring your appetite!
Dip into Barton Springs Pool for a refresh and amazing views. The pool is fed from underground springs and feeds into Lady Bird Lake. It has an incredible view of the city and is surrounded by Zilker Parks 358 acres.
Paddle Board or Kayak through downtown Austin and pack a cooler full of snacks and drinks. You can even see the bats come out from underneath the S. Congress Bridge right before sunset.
