Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
Free outdoor sculpture garden makes a nice place to stroll on sunny days. Bonus: The Walker Art Center is adjacent to the garden and houses a great contemporary art collection.
Paisley Park
If you’re a Prince fan, a tour of his home and recording studios, called Paisley Park, will be a lot of fun for you.
Minnehaha Falls
Weather permitting, the falls are a great place for a hike. Taking in the view, however, is great in any weather.
Lake Nokomis
A few hours at Nokomis is a regular part of our lives. Nan walks here most days and in the summer, we often swim or rent kayaks. We love Lake Nokomis, but it’s not the only lake we ❤️. Check out the Chain of Lakes nearer to downtown — there’s no such thing as a bad day at the lake!
Hola Arepa
One of our first dates was at Hola Arepa. This place is one of our favorites and not just for sentimental reasons. We love the empanadas and the pork and sweet potato arepa. Oh, and the yuca (YU-kuh) fries? Forget about it!
Bryant Lake Bowl and Theater
Slightly elevated divey bar food, diner style breakfasts, performance space for live shows, and old school bowling! What could be better?
Naviya's Thai Brasserie
Our favorite Thai place nestled in the quaint Linden Hills neighborhood, a few blocks from Lake Harriet. Pro tip - hit up Sebastian Joe’s for some ice cream after dinner; it’s around the corner and across the street.
Matt's Bar and Grill
KC has barbecue; Minneapolis has the Jucy Lucy. While there is some debate about its origin, the cheeseburger with the cheese inside is a Minneapolis must-do. Matt’s takes cash only, and there is an ATM inside. Watch out for celebrities; it’s that kind of famous.
Owamni by The Sioux Chef
Phenomenal indigenous decolonized menu that is located in a breathtaking site along the Mississippi. Reservations are hard to come by, but if you are lucky enough to get one, you’ll have a truly remarkable experience. Google the name of the restaurant to read up on its origin and success.
