Once upon a time, a poor misguided young man named Michael fell in love with a beautiful princess/barista named Phoebe. She ruled the kingdom known as Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. This location we have listed isn't the same one, but it's got pretty sweet views of Los Penasquitos Lagoon and is right down the street from Torrey Pines State Beach.
We went here for one of our first few dates, and it remains one of our favorite spots in San Diego. Michael loves it for the views, Phoebe loves it for the dogs. Sometimes those dogs are off-leash and Michael complains about it and ruins all the fun.
See seals, sea lions, cormorants, egrets, pelicans, and maybe even dolphins, all without the ethical dilemma of going to Sea World!
If Kate Sessions isn't good enough views for you, head up to Mount Soledad. We're like 95% sure this is the highest point west of the 5 in San Diego County (don't quote us on that). You can see our wedding venue from here!
Don't let the simple name fool you, this place is legit. If you're going at peak times, you might want to consider ordering online. Get the al pastor for sure.
Everyone knows Torrey Pines as the name of the golf course, but did you know the Torrey Pine Tree is a rare pine species only found in San Diego County?! No? You don't care? Fine...just...just go to the beach of the same name, whatever. Nobody likes trivia these days.
Just a pleasant place to spend the Friday morning before the best wedding ever. Walk around, grab a coffee, eat some brunch, stare sentimentally at the ocean -- whatever gets you feeling ready to celebrate love (and also party).
This is the oldest continuously family-owned bookstore in the country and has been in San Diego for over 70 years! Michael bought Phoebe a book about Dolly Parton and her songwriting here. Play some chess and people-watch outside if you feel so inclined.
