Visa Requirements
U.S. citizens can enter the United Kingdom, including Scotland, for tourism, business, or family visits for up to six months without a visa, however, beginning in January 2025, you will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization. You will need valid U.S. passport with at least six months of validity remaining from your intended departure date before applying for an ETA. Please note that upon arrival, border security may ask for the purpose of your visit, proof of accommodations, and a return ticket. There are many fake websites when you search ETA on google. Please follow the link or only use UK government websites. The ETA should not cost more than $20.

Black Bull Inn - Lauder

We are thrilled to have you join us for our special day and want to make the most of our time together. We have a hotel block with 14 rooms at the Black Bull Inn, a short 10 minute walk from Thirlestane Castle. We will be providing shuttle services for specific events, but you will be welcome to walk to the castle whenever you'd like. You are more than welcome to extend your stay and may consider the Thirlestane Castle Suites if you would like to explore more of the beautiful grounds. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! Flight
Edinburgh Airport (EDI)
The best airport for guests to arrive into is Edinburgh International Airport (EDI), which is closest to our venue and offers the most convenient journey, at around one hour. Guests are also welcome to fly into Glasgow International Airport (GLA). Please keep in mind that if you choose GLA, you should anticipate about a 2-hour car ride to reach the venue. We are looking into providing a shuttle from EDI to Thirlestane for guests who do not wish to rent a car.
Flight
London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
For guests with extra time and looking for a lower cost trip, flying into London and taking the train or hopper flight can be a great option! If you have credit card points you can book flights to London from many airports in the US through Virgin Atlantic for 12,000 points each way.
