Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport is the closest airport to our venue. As you drive down Highway 1 from Carmel, where the reception is, you'll start to see the stunning coast of Big Sur the moment you leave town, starting with Garrapata State Park, which is where the ceremony takes place. This area is just 15 minutes south of Carmel & Monterey, which offers plenty of options for accommodations and they tend to be pricey. Please consider booking accommodation as soon as you can. Big Sur can be absolutely beautiful year round but it can be a bit finicky with its microclimate. It is unusually 5 to 10 degrees colder on the coast. Please consider bringing an outer layer if you can.

Flight

Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport

The Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport is located in the heart of Silicon Valley in San Jose, California. It is an hour and 20 minutes drive from our venues by car. To get from San Jose to Monterey/Carmel-by-the-sea, which is where our reception location is, without a car, please consider taking a bus which takes 2h 25m and costs $15 - $23.

Flight

San Francisco International Airport

San Francisco International Airport is another airport that you might consider flying in. It is in an unincorporated area of San Mateo County, 13 miles south of Downtown San Francisco.

Train

Amtrak Thruway Service

In addition to the Monterey Transit Plaza Bus Stop,Amtrak Thruway Service connects you from the Coast Starlight train in Salinas, CA to several other stops in Monterey: Monterey, CA - Marriott Bus Stop (MYM) Monterey, CA - Travelodge Bus Stop (MYT) Monterey, CA - Hyatt Regency Bus Stop (MYH) Monterey, CA - Aquarium Bus Stop (MYA)

Travel Note

Garrapata State Park (Gate 19)

Garrapata State Park is where we will be holding our ceremony. It is located on California State Route 1 6.7 miles south of Carmel and 18 miles north of Big Sur Village on the Monterey coast. It's a road to avoid if heights are an issue. The drive is known for its stunning coastal views and steep drop-offs from the California cliffs into the ocean. There are plenty of viewpoints to take in the ocean views. Most drives slow down to 30 mph. Traffic should not be bad during the week but it is busy during the weekend.
