Michael and I were both volunteering at New Life on Wednesday nights with the youth program. He was leading senior boys and I was leading seventh grade girls. With our work schedule, we didn't spend much time outside of Wednesday nights, as he worked weekends. At the time, a mutual friend, Colin, told me that he had a perfect guy to set me up that he knew through his work, little did I know that Michael was that friend. I had told him not to worry, as I had my eye on a guy at my church. One weekend, Michael had work off and asked me to the movies and the rest was history.
On December 22nd, Michael planned to take me hiking. As I asked where we were going, he said SF and I thought something special might be happening. He took me to Mt. Davidson Park, one of our favorite spots in the city. As we walked, we laughed, took pictures, and enjoyed conversation. As we got to the top, he had a picnic blanket and flowers on the ground in front of a giant cross. He got down on one knee and asked if I would spend the rest of my life serving Jesus with him. Without a delay, I said yes, and we stayed up there watching the sun set over the beautiful city. Afterward, we grabbed hot chocolate and headed back to the East Bay where he had our families waiting to surprise and celebrate with us over dinner.
