We met on a blind date at the movie theater that was set up by mutual friends. Mike chickened out and didn't get my number that night, but thankfully he got it the next day through our friends. We talked on the phone everyday for a few days constantly. The following weekend we went on a second date and made it official shortly after that. I was 16 at the time and Mike was 15 - we have been together ever since.
We went out of town for a long weekend trip together to Charleston, South Carolina. Both of us had always talked about visiting Charleston so we decided to make it an early 9 year anniversary trip. The day of the proposal we went to Magnolia Plantation and explored downtown a bit before getting ready for dinner reservations that evening. Mike wanted to walk around town before our dinner reservations at Queen 82 that night. We spent some time walking around The Battery Park and then to my surprise (not really... Mike was a giant ball of nerves that whole day) Mike got down on one knee and popped the question! Without a doubt, I said YES!
We have talked about visiting Hawaii since we were teenagers. A few years ago, we decided we would hold off on going to Hawaii and leave that as a honeymoon trip some day. After getting engaged, we decided to not only honeymoon in Hawaii, but get married there, too! We are SO excited to share our big day with you - we are having an intimate ceremony and reception with only our closest friends and family members. Thank you for your love and support over the years, you have truly helped mold us into the couple we are today. See you in paradise!
