We met at a club on a Tuesday night. Mike was wearing a dark shirt with a backwards ball cap. He had approached me & asked me if I lived in Lacey. I said, "No, why?" He then went on to tell me that he saw a girl, who looked exactly like me, riding a bike down his road (even though he didn't live in Lacey). He asked me for my number for 4 months, before I finally caved. Even then I still tried giving him all of my social media names before just giving in & giving him my number. And now the rest is history!
I lived in Seaside Heights, and Mike lived in Barnegat. He had brought up how he owned a jet ski, and would love to take me out on it. Well the day came, and I had fallen asleep LOL. I woke up around 4:15pm with messages and phone calls from him, asking where I was. He rode from Barnegat to Seaside, in choppy, cold water, and I had stood him up (accidentally)! I felt sooooo bad, so I had asked if he wanted to do dinner. He picked me up with BABY BUNNIES in his truck! I didn't want to let them go, they were too cute. We then went to Applebee's had Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Tacos. The Seahawks were playing the Packers and it was the first game of the season. Seahawks of course won. We later went to AC, stayed the night at Caesers, and then the next day, Mike took me to a pizza place in Toms River, that he liked.
We (and by we I mean, I) had been planning our wedding for about a year, and we had been touring venues since May 2017. We had booked our venue in December 2017, still with no engagement title. January 27th, we had a meeting with our DJ, and then Mike was going to take me to see the Lighthouse on LBI after. I had never seen a lighthouse up close & was super excited. We get there, and me being me, was trying to take pictures of everything. Mike then takes my phone and backs up in some bushes to "try and help me get the full view of the lighthouse." He asked me to read a sign on the fence, as I was reading it I was wondering why he asked me this because I knew he had better eyes than me & the sign was in HUGE writing. So I turn around, and there he was on his knee, with a ring in his hand. He said "Emilee Rose O'Neill, will you please marry me?" I automatically started bawling, and said of course! He then tells me "you're supposed to say finally!" He recorded everything on my phone, he said he knew how much that would mean to me. It was one of the best days ever, I was totally surprised because I have no idea how he hid the ring box!
