The NuWray features a few different dining options on the property — the Old Ray restaurant in the main hotel, Carriage House Sundries right next door, Roland's Bar on the outdoor deck, and the Washroom Speakeasy in the basement.
Located in the original Carriage House building just behind the NuWray Hotel, their sister restaurant & bar serves up coffee, pastries, brunch & dinner. The shop also carries baked goods, premium wines, cigars, and other retail items!
Homeplace opened in 2017 with a love for craft beer and a hope of connecting a changing world with a deep admiration of our region’s past. Over the past few years they have quickly grown from a tiny shoestring operation in a closet space near the Burnsville Town Square into a sprawling, fully-functional brewpub facility and event space.

Located in Yancey County 30 miles northeast of Asheville, Mount Mitchell State Park was the genesis of North Carolina's state parks system. At 6,684 feet, the mountain is the highest point east of the Mississippi River, and an observation deck provides breathtaking mountain views on a clear day. Easy trails at the summit explore the Fraser fir forest, while a vast network of challenging trails — including the Mountains-to-Sea State Trail — extend into adjacent wilderness areas and lead to backpacking opportunities within Pisgah National Forest.
The scenic 3-mile loop trail to Crabtree Falls is moderately strenuous hike with a steep incline and rocky terrain. Hikers should allow 1.5 to 2.5 hours for the entire hike. The Trail begins in the parking area for the old Crabtree Falls Camp Store. It is .3 miles to the trail starting from behind the campground kiosk. From here, the trail descends .9 mile to the falls through a mixed oak-hickory forest. Hikers also will pass through thickets of rosebay rhododendron. At the base of the trail is spectacular Crabtree Falls, where water cascades over a 60-foot rock cliff. Many types of ferns and wildflowers thrive in the hollow, benefiting from the waterfall's cool spray.
