Corissa and Michael met at the University of Washington at the Delta Zeta sorority. Michael was studying engineering with Corissa's bestie, Krista, who introduced them. From that first introduction, every time Michael and Krista had homework, Corissa would come downstairs and distract them so she could spend time with Michael. Corissa and Michael went on several grab-a-dates followed by their first official date at University Village in the summer of 2011. That October, Corissa agreed to be Michael's girlfriend and, the rest is history.
After a few of days of gray weather, the sun finally came out and Michael suggested to Corissa they take the boat to happy hour at Ivar's Salmon House for "Mussel Monday." It was a beautiful day and while in the middle of Lake Union, Michael played Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" (Corissa's favorite), put the boat in neutral, got on one knee and proposed. Corissa said, "YES!”, and then took about 45 minutes to get over the shock – after all, they had been together almost 8 years. They called their loved ones while still on the boat to share the exciting news. Don't worry they still made it to Ivar's (just barely before closing) to take advantage of the Mussel Monday deals!
