Due to the many antiques at the Mansion on Main, we are not permitting small children to the wedding. Please find sitters or family members and have a great night out! Well-behaved teenagers and pre-teens are welcome but please let us know in advance (and through the RSVP).
Since the venues are almost right next to each other, please park either on Main Street, across the street from the Smithfield Inn at the public parking lot, or behind the Smithfield Inn. The small lot behind the Mansion on Main is reserved for the photographers and Mansion on Main staff.
You can use either entrance to the Mansion. The main entrance is at the corner of Church Street and Main Street at the front of the house. The back entrance of the house is by the back parking lot off of N. Church Street. Again, no parking except for staff and photographers will park here, so please park on the widely available street or lot parking in the immediate area.
There is no smoking on the property owned by Mansion on Main, not even on the yard or driveway/parking lot. This includes vaping and chewing tobacco. You must smoke on the public sidewalk and discard any cigarettes off property in a responsible manner. At the Smithfield Inn, smoking is permitted outside the property. Please discard your cigarettes properly and not on the street. Keep downtown Smithfield beautiful!
During the wedding ceremony, upon entering the Mansion on Main, please put your phone on silent (to include turning off your vibrate function). As to not distract the ceremony, and professional photographers, please also turn the flash off on your phone's camera and any noise function (shutter sound).
Yes, but during the wedding ceremony, please disable your flash and shutter sounds and please do not let it disrupt the ceremony. Seeing your phone screens would take away from the ambiance of the ceremony and the Mansion. Also, the hired professional photographers have "right of way" when it comes to photos so please give them the space they require. At the Smithfield Inn for the reception, your camera's sounds and flash can be enabled again, but still give the professional photographers the right of way whenever possible.
Due to the surrounding antiques in the house, there will be no food or beverages in the Mansion on Main during the wedding ceremony. After the ceremony at the reception, guests will walk over to the Smithfield Inn where there will be a fine selection of heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages, but it will not be a full, sit down meal service. It will be like a cocktail hour and you'll be free to sit and mingle wherever you like. Alcohol will be available at the bar as a cash bar where you can pay per drink or open a tab.
Yes! Please ask the DJ but keep the song requests respectful (and tip the DJ!).
Yes! You can reserve one of the rooms upstairs from the reception. Visit www.smithfieldinn.net for more information. Other hotels are available in Smithfield which are the Smithfield Station (409 S. Church Street) and Hampton Inn (200 Vincent's Crossing). A little bit further away is the Stonewood Inn & Suites in Carrollton (20080 Brewers Neck Blvd).
The Mansion on Main is not handicap accessible and does require stairs. It is a historic property that is not required to be ADA compliant. The Smithfield Inn is handicap accessible, however, and has a handicap elevator on the parking lot side of the building.
