The Grand Wailea's biggest appeal as our wedding venue was the grounds. Not only does it have an incredible beach where during peak season whales can be seen breaching all throughout the day, but they offer many onsite activities and the pool is spectacular. The Hibiscus pool is an adults only pool, and the Wailea Canyon Activity Pool is for all ages and features a rope swing, swim up bar, jacuzzi, lazy river, and multiple slides. The onsite activities are seasonal so be sure to check the current list at the link below during your stay. The concierge team at the resort can also book any island activities listed below for you and can be contacted at: concierge@grandwailea.com or 1.800.888.6100 Golfing, hiking, horseback riding, swimming with turtles at the Molokini Crater, Haleakala sunrise tours, Road to Hana trips, zip-lining, aquarium visits, kayaking, helicopter tours, snorkeling, scuba diving, sport fishing, sunset cruises, whale watching, surf lessons, lu'aus, spa days, etc.
This shopping center is walking distance from the resort and has many options for shopping, coffee, and food if you wish to go off property but not too far. There is a Tommy Bahamas restaurant that offers happy hour at their bar everyday from 2-5 PM as well as the Waikiki Brewing Company that offers a wide selection of food and beer with a daily happy hour from 2-5 PM. In the same parking lot as the shops, you will find a little market that is perfect for any groceries or last minute things you should need. Inside there is also a little counter that you can order an assortment of breakfast and lunch items, pizzas, burgers, and more. Separately, there is a grab and go counter with sushi and ramen.
Located in South Maui Gardens, Kihei Food Oasis is home to 13 different local and international food trucks that include coffee, wings, acai bowls, pizzas, and more. It is open 8AM-8PM and is a great stop for lots of different food, drink, and price point options.
We visited this restaurant when we came to Maui in February and loved it. It is a little bit of a splurge, so if you want to treat yourself to great seafood, drinks, dessert, and amazing service, than we highly recommend KO. It is located inside the Fairmont Hotel just a short drive from the Grand Wailea.
Also known as the "Golden Sand Beach" This is a quiet beach that is great for snorkeling beginners and sea turtle sightings. Parking is easily available.
Also known as "Big Beach” this is a very beautiful beach that has plenty of space for a large party without it feeling crowded. The waves can get pretty big here making it a great place for boogie boarding or body surfing.
This beach is located in Wai'napanapa State Park and requires a reservation in advance. Tickets sell out, so I recommend making your reservation when the system opens which is about 2 weeks in advance. This beach is incredible and very popular as it is on the infamous Road to Hana and is Maui's only black sand beach. If you are not familiar with the Road to Hana it is a long and winding road that you could really spend all day stopping along and exploring. It includes many beautiful site, such as beaches, waterfalls, forests, sea caves, and more. The majority of it is a 2 lane road so if you are planning on exploring the Road to Hana, be prepared for some traffic. We recommend giving yourself a full day for this excursion. The concierge at the Grand Wailea resort can give you information and set you up with a guided tour if you would like. There are also guided tours available on the app section of your Iphone that you can download and listen to along the ride yourself as well.
