Alli: Michael and I met in high school. He was two grades above me and friends with my older brother, Thomas. I remember him hanging around the house from time to time, and although I had the biggest crush on him, in my mind he was strictly off-limits. Michael: I first met Alli when I was in high school and I was friends with her older brother. Being such good friends with him, regardless how fond I was of her I wouldn’t pursue. After several years of keeping in touch the stars never really aligned until here recently. When she reached out I was determined it was all or nothing. At this point my feelings for her over the years had done nothing but grow into a passionate longing for this woman who embodied everything I desired in a wife and more. (Fun fact, the first time I asked her to dance she said no)
Alli: Michael is much better at telling this than I. But I couldn't imagine a better proposal. Michael: At the top of a waterfall in a botanical garden with a bread tie. As she was walking away, I knelt to "tie my shoe". She promptly turned around to remind me, ever so sweetly, that I was wearing loafers and didn't have laces.
Alli: When we were younger after a crawfish boil/birthday party for Thomas and my Pawpaw. Everyone had gone to sleep, but Michael and I stayed up watching a movie while he sweetly answered my pestering questions about the film. He slyly fell asleep with his head on the pillow in my lap. Boy did he make it hard for teenage Alli to not fall in love. Michael: Our first date, I was greatly concerned about going to mass together because I had yet to go to confession. So the first time I had seen her in years, we went straight to confession and celebrated mass together before going out. I couldn't think of a better way to begin the relationship with this woman I had prayed for than with a cleansed soul in the presence of our Lord.
Alli: I love being together in the kitchen. Michael will turn on music and pull me into a dance, even when I protest that I'm too busy. Michael: Read a good book, enjoying one another's company. That or trying to dance with her while she tries to cook (she secretly likes it). The first time I asked her to dance in high school she said no, which I find strange given she's been a dancer her entire life!
Alli: Growing in Christ together and as a family. I have grown up surrounded by so many large, loving, and Godly families. I cannot wait to experience my own. To challenge each other to grow in faith and love. To live and raise a generation for Christ. Michael: Growing together as one, setting goals and reaching them together. Experiencing the elegance of how we inspire each other to be better each day, growing and living our faith.
