To say that God brought us together is an understatement. We met online-yes, it does work! I (Michaela) was just dipping my toe into the dating scene again, and Philip had recently moved to Greenville. We met downtown on a warm spring day for burgers, and the first thing I noticed was Philip's funky sunglasses. We couldn't be more different. He likes video games and I like musicals. He can talk for hours about movie trivia and I am a bookworm. Its true, opposites attract! But our fire for God and love for each other creates a harmonious balance. I remember going home after that date and calling my mom, "I think I met someone." I was honestly scared to death! But I took the leap and trusted that Jesus knew better. A beautiful friendship blossomed, and we found ourselves wanting to hang out all the time. He is my steady strength, the "banks to my river," to borrow a line from Need to Breathe, and I am the spunky, idea-filled partner. The love we share is so simple, so gentle, so full of adventure. We truly are best friends! A year into dating, Philip proposed at the waterfall where we had our first real conversation and stared into each other's eyes. He read me a poem he wrote himself. God has blessed us in ways that would take too long to explain here, but we are so ready to follow His lead and unite in marriage as husband and wife. Thank you for celebrating with us, we are beyond excited!
