Before people begin traveling up to Topton, we wanted to share some important info! 1. The venue is a wi-fi and cellular black hole. It is a GREAT idea to print/write out driving directions to the venue ahead of time, as GPS can be spotty. Also please be sure to drive carefully (and soberly) around the winding roads. 2. There's a map of the venue below. The ceremony takes place at the Chapel in the Sky (which is a WALK. Please wear sensible shoes and give yourself plenty of time to make it up the hill without being winded. There will be a small vehicle to take folks with mobility issues [or big pouffy dresses, in Devan's case] up that hill). 3. Parking for Friday AND Saturday will be along Wayah Road outside of the venue. We need to keep all available driveways free for vendors to move about. There will be a line of cars started already before guests begin arriving. 4. Reminder that the dress code for events on Friday is CASUAL! Please feel free to come and go as you please between 12-4 pm, be relaxed, ready to eat some picnic food and play some cornhole! (That goes for the Rehearsal Dinner, too, family!) Saturday is the time to dress a little nicer for our "garden party". 5. Restrooms are fairly limited. There are two single-stalls near the reception pavilion. Michael and I will make one of the tiny cabins near the ceremony area available for quick restroom trips and infant changing, too!

We met online while both living in Mesa, Arizona. Michael was working for Boeing and Devan had just graduated from Arizona State University. For our first date we enjoyed a long walk among the flowers at the Desert Botanical Gardens before having a delicious dinner together where we shared bits of our favorite poetry with one another. Our second date was the very next day!

Devan and Michael moved to Berkeley, California in 2015 where Michael started working at Silicon Valley aerospace startup companies and Devan began teaching at California High School. Their time since then has been filled with adventures: roller derby games, roller derby injuries, chess tournaments, job changes, lots of trips to the San Francisco Symphony, and plenty of unusual flying machines! Devan and Michael still live in Berkeley with their fluffy white cat, Bijoux, where they enjoy the sunny weather, the hummingbirds, and everything the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer.
