a day to remember

At the start of 2020, it was one of Sylwia’s first days in West Palm Beach. Eager to meet new friends after relocating, turned a corner—leading her straight into Mike. Startled, he replied “no” when she mistakenly asked if he was someone else. It was a comical start, but that first "bump-in" was the beginning of their futures together. As they spent time together, an easy friendship blossomed, but just as they were getting closer, COVID hit, and Sylwia had to return to CT for work and they lost touch. In January 2021, out of the blue, Mike texted Sylwia about “All American,” a show they loved to watch together. That simple message reignited their spark, leading to hours of Facetime conversations where they discovered just how much they enjoyed each other’s company. On May 13, 2021, Mike asked Sylwia to be his girlfriend, and they began a challenging yet rewarding long-distance journey. Over the course of a year, they visited each other often, shared late-night puzzle sessions, binge-watched shows, and dreamt of a future where they wouldn’t be 1,000 miles apart. Each goodbye was tougher than the last, but they knew if they could get through this, they would be able to get through anything. The turning point came when Sylwia surprised Mike with the news that she had landed a job in Florida. She took the leap and moved down, and since then, their adventures have been nothing short of incredible. From amazing trips to Lake Tahoe and Poland, to cheering on the Yankees together, and moving into their first apartment together - they created 3 years of beautiful memories. On June 28, 2024, just a day before Sylwia’s birthday, Mike took her on a walk on the beach in Branford, a place that holds a special place in both their hearts. He got down on one knee and proposed to Sylwia. In a moment filled with excitement and an upside-down ring, she joyfully accepted, marking the beginning of their next chapter. Now, as an engaged couple, life has been sweet. They’ve danced to Taylor Swift during a trip to Poland, became godparents to the adorable little Charlie, and even got to see the Yankees play during the World Series! Now, as they stand on the brink of forever, Sylwia and Mike are excited to build their lives together as husband and wife. Their journey is a testament to love’s power to overcome distance and uncertainty, and they are both so excited to celebrate their journey ahead with their closest friends and family!
