Bride's Version of Events: It was August 2020, and I was starting my second year of law school. We had just finished our week long law journal orientation and decided to head to the Cellar in Carbondale to celebrate. Weston, a frequent flyer at the cellar, wandered over to our table, sat down, and didn’t say a word. My friend had just bought us tequila shots and we had an extra, so I offered it to Weston to break the ice and he turned me down. Naturally, I had to take the shot myself. Fast forward seven months, I was applying to be the Editor-in-Chief of our law journal which came along with being interviewed by the graduating members, including Weston. I was extremely nervous and don’t remember much of the interview, but I do remember Weston (extremely red faced) asking me several softball questions. A few days later, Weston finally got the courage to make his first move. He asked me on our first date while he was in Las Vegas. He texted me “Can I make you a deal/offer about Vegas?” I was intrigued, so of course I agreed. And he replied “If I win 1000 bucks let me take ya on the best date of your life. If I win any money overall, a great date. If I hit zero overall, just a good date?” Weston may have came back from Vegas in the negatives, but I can say he still took me on the best date of my life. And the rest is history ❤️ Groom's Version of Events: Micaylee was running for Editor in Chief of the law journal in law school and had her interview on zoom and I was on the panel of people who had to pick who it was going to be. During Micaylee’s interview, I don’t think I heard a word she said because I was was blown away by how hot she was. Later on, after she was selected as Editor in Chief, I slide into her DMs. I had to workshop with my roommate (Geaschel) the perfect line in order to get her to respond to me and it worked. A couple weeks later while I was losing money in a casino in Las Vegas I asked her on a date. She said yes. I later learned I had previously met Micaylee at the Cellar in Carbondale, when I had been overserved and do not recall the meeting. Micaylee had offered me a tequila shot (because she thought I was hot) and I said no and she called me a name. We dated in Carbondale and then I had to move to Edwardsville for work and we decided we would end it there. During our one week break we both figured out we were in love (even though it took me forever to say it out loud). We decided we would date with distance and visit each other on the weekends. Eventually she moved to St. Louis where we continued dating and moved in together. We then adopted another dog, Ms. Georgia, bought a house, and are very happy.
