Custer State Park-Wildlife Loop Road
Micayla went there on a trip with her family in 2016. A perfect place for seeing some spectacular wildlife from the comfort of your car. Watch for bison and burros, as well as prairie dog towns.
Needles Highway
Take a drive through the awe-inspiring spires of the Needles Highway. Be entertained and slightly scared by the climbers attempting to reach the top of the Needles. Note that this is not RV friendly.
Black Elk Peak Hike
One of Micayla's all time favorite hikes, it is not for the faint of heart! It's the highest peak east of the Rockies in the U.S.. You will traverse through many hills and valleys only to come to the final ascent, which can be brutal in the best way. Spectacular views at the top make this gorgeous hike all the more worthwhile.
Sylvan Lake Day Use Area
A great place to have a picnic, also where the ceremony will be! An easy meandering trail leads around the lake and there are lots of rocks around to scramble up. Micayla usually jumps in the lake after a successful hike of Black Elk Peak, but October might be too cold for that.
Wind Cave National Park
All hiking, nature viewing, and picnicking is free at Wind Cave! The only thing that costs money is a cave tour.
Cosmos Mystery Area
Optical illusions galore at Cosmos!
Rush Mountain Adventure Park
Ziplines, high-ropes courses, and a mountain coaster! Always a blast.
Custer Rock Shops
If you like rocks, minerals, or fossils make sure you check out any of the rock shops on the main drag in Custer. Keystone and Hill City also have various rock shops around!
