Things To Do

There are lots of great spots in Richmond - here are a few of our favorites!

Carytown

West Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23221

Carytown is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Richmond - we always stop here when visiting. Centered on West Cary Street, there are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. Here are some of our favorites: * Can Can Brasserie - a French restaurant and staple in Richmond. Get the fries! * Mongrel - a fantastic gift shop with a selection of cards, paper goods, and other odds n' ends. * Bygones Vintage Clothing - a boutique with vintage (and vintage-inspired) clothing and accessories for all. This is one of Dan's favorites! * Byrd Theatre - built in 1928, this theater still shows movies today! * For the Love of Chocolate - for the love of your sweet tooth, this shop has a huge selection of candy! * Shelf Life Books - our favorite book store with new and used books.

Church Hill

Richmond, VA

This historic district is a great area to admire Richmond's architecture. The neighborhood is home to two parks - Libby Hill Park and Chimborazo Park - both with amazing views. While walking around, stop for a bite to eat at Proper Pie.

The Scott's Addition neighborhood is home to several distilleries and breweries, all within walking distance of each other and near plenty of restaurants.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

1800 Lakeside Avenue, Henrico, VA 23228

The Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is worth the short drive outside of the city to see it! The grounds are expansive and beautiful.

Perly's Restaurant & Deli

111 East Grace Street, Richmond, VA 23219

Mical's favorite restaurant in Richmond! We highly recommend eating breakfast/lunch here. They don't take reservations so make sure to get there right when they open to avoid being put on the dreaded waitlist.

1007 Lafayette Street, Richmond, VA 23221

A restaurant with delicious Greek food and great atmosphere.

ZZQ Texas Craft Barbeque

3201 West Moore Street, Richmond, VA 23230

Want some legit BBQ? This is the place to go! We recommend going early in the day because they serve things on a first-come-first-serve basis and items sell fast.

2001 Park Avenue, Richmond, VA 23220

Garnett's is a neighborhood staple - their sandwiches are amazing. Stop by during happy hour for some of the best deals in town (even on the weekend).

Edo's Squid

411 North Harrison Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Consistently rated one of the top Italian restaurants in Richmond - it's old school and rustic!

A neighborhood restaurant that specializes in Southern dishes with a twist. It's only open for dinner!

Grisette

Grisette serves a modern take on French food with delicious wine pairings! It's another great option for dinner.

Sub Rosa Bakery

620 North 25th Street, Richmond, VA 23223

This is one of the BEST bakeries. Order ahead if you can because the line gets long. Mical highly recommends trying the sour cherry and pistachio croissant (available on weekends only).

Scoop

403 Strawberry Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Stop by for a "scoop" at the best spot in town. We highly recommend trying their ice cream flight.

This dessert bar is known for their massive cake slices. They have both a sit down restaurant and a cafe where you can pop in and pop out.
