We met on Bumble, and yes, we both googled each other before meeting. Fortunately, we both work in a profession where our identities are quickly verifiable. Micah was admittedly a bit intimidated by this former Division I athlete who is now a surgeon; Meredith quickly identified Micah as a cute nerd. Many of our first dates were accompanied by inclement weather; these Southern thunderstorms were a bit of an adjustment for Micah. A particularly memorable one took place at Mezcalito on a Friday night in August. The date had already been rescheduled because of a tornado and flood warning. Later, Meredith would share that the same night, she was asked to take on an additional case. However, when she disclosed to her colleague that she had a date, she was quickly advised to meet up with Micah. It was loud, the table was at an awkward height, and the waiter rushed us the whole time. After the check had been paid, Meredith took a deep breath and asked Micah if he liked ice cream. Those who know Micah well know the boy likes his sweets, so he naturally answered in the affirmative. Despite a torrential downpour, the two of us made our way to The Parlour for a couple of scoops. It was in between bites of his lavender honey ice cream (he was trying to seem sophisticated) that he realized this Carolina Girl was best in the world. The past year has been full of countless memories, from long walks with the beast, AKA Parker, to watching UNC take on Cooper Flagg (special thanks to Hugh for giving Micah his ticket) to teaching Micah the rules of lacrosse. There was also the time Micah showed up as a John Doe in the Duke emergency department. Meredith attempted to teach Micah that God is a Tar Heel because he made the sky Carolina Blue. While he's unsure if this is sound doctrine, he is thankful and tremendously blessed to have Meredith in his life. We are excited to start our life together and looking forward to celebrating with you in December.
