We’re so excited to have you join us for our special day! To make your travel experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible, we encourage you to explore flight options that fit your preferences and budget. Flights typically range from $600 for economy to $3,000+ for first class. Here are some resources to help you find the perfect flight: Google Flights, Expedia, Kayak, and Hopper are all great tools. You can also book directly through the airline for peace of mind. Travel Tips: Use Incognito Mode: To keep your search private and avoid fluctuating prices, consider using your browser's incognito mode. Be Adventurous: If you’re up for a little exploration, check flights to various European cities before heading to Florence. You might find more affordable options flying into places like Dublin, Madrid, Milan, Copenhagen, Paris, or London. From there, you can easily catch a very cheap ($30-$50) flight to Florence with airlines like Ryanair or Jet Easy. Explore Italy: Alternatively, consider flying into another Italian city such as Rome, Milan, or Venice. From there, you can take a scenic train ride to Florence or Siena—an experience you won’t want to miss!
To make your journey to our wedding as smooth as possible, we recommend renting a car, or even sharing a rental with fellow guests! Our villa host mentioned that public transport can be tricky for reaching the location, and taxis or Ubers in the area can be quite pricey. Renting a car will not only make it easier to get to the venue, but it’ll also give you the freedom to explore the beautiful surroundings at your own pace. Check out the "Travel" Section of the website for train information!
International Driver’s License Before you rent a car, you may need to obtain an International Driver’s Permit (IDP). It’s a simple process and costs just $20! Please check the rental company’s website for their specific requirements. If you do need an IDP, you can find all the details you need in the link below. Just a note: only the person whose name is on the rental agreement needs to get the IDP. IDP - https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html Rental Companies There are a few car rental options conveniently located just outside the airport. Below are links to some reputable companies. The websites are in Italian, but don’t worry! You can easily switch to English by clicking the globe icon in the top right corner or selecting "English" from the menu. Sicily car rental - https://www.sicilyrentcar.it/en/ Sixt car rental - https://www.sixt.com/car-rental/italy/florence/florence-airport/?changeLocale=true&et_uk=4c49bf882a9948708653da376b194b0b Sicily by car - https://www.sicilybycar.it/en If you’d prefer not to rent a car directly from the airport, you can easily take a bus or train into downtown Florence. From there, you’ll find plenty of car rental options within the city center. Feel free to explore and choose a company that fits your needs, especially if you’re sharing the vehicle with fellow guests! A Fun Tip! For a memorable experience, consider renting a car just for a day to transport your luggage to the villa, then return it and rent a scooter or Vespa for the rest of your trip. Micah and I had an unforgettable time riding around the stunning Italian countryside on a Vespa during our last visit, it was one of the highlights of our trip! We’re so excited to let you know that we’ll be hosting a rehearsal dinner on April 30th and a dinner after the ceremony on May 1st. We’re also thinking about a little breakfast on May 1st, but we’ll confirm that once we talk with our host. While we won’t be providing meals for everyone during your stay, there are tons of cute Italian towns nearby where you can grab groceries or enjoy some amazing meals out. We really want you to experience Italy and all it has to offer! Grocery Store: The closest grocery store from our venue is located in the town of San Giustino Valdarno, it is a Carrefour, it's a minimarket, it is a 5 minutes drive from Romignano Restaurant Recommendations: - La Cantinella - Il Cipresso - Sagonà - Osteria de L'Acquolina - La Luna nel Pozzo If you’re interested, our host also offers meal services we can help set up for you. - this will need to be scheduled ahead of time and paid for.
Micah and I are so excited to have rented the villa for you to enjoy during your time here! One of the main reasons we chose to get married in Italy is our love for this beautiful country and the adventures we've had traveling around. If you want to spend your entire stay relaxing at the villa, we’re all for it! Or if you’d prefer to fly in, drop off your luggage, and head out for day trips, feel free! We totally support whatever works best for you. If you can’t stay for the whole week, no worries at all—come in whenever it suits you! Whether you want to explore other countries or just enjoy different parts of Italy before returning for the wedding, you’re welcome to do it your way. There’s no right or wrong way to spend your time here. We just want you to be happy, comfortable, and make the most of your experience!
Please RSVP by January 15, 2025.
The dress code for our wedding: it’s semi-formal! Ladies, feel free to wear dresses that fall below the knee, and guys, we’d love to see you in suits—think slacks, a button-down dress shirt, and a jacket. A tie is optional! We don’t have any specific color preferences, so wear what makes you feel great!
We kindly ask that you please bring only yourself and anyone who was formally invited through the wedding invitation. We want to keep things small and intimate for our celebration.
We want to let you know that we’re not expecting gifts from guests who are attending the wedding in Italy. We understand that our nontraditional wedding in Italy is a bit of an adventure—and we truly see your presence as the greatest gift of all! We know that a destination wedding can be more expensive for our guests than a traditional wedding at home, so please know that we don’t expect anything from you. Please do not feel bad for not getting us anything, you making the trip to our wedding is the greatest gift of all. Thank you for being part of our special day!
Things Not to Forget: Passport – Make sure it's up-to-date and in an easily accessible spot. Outlet Plug Adapter – Their outlets are different from ours! Either get a travel adapter or consider purchasing a simple European USB wall plug in if all you have is USB. Credit Card – Call your bank ahead of time to notify them about your travel plans to avoid any holds on your card. Currency Exchange – If you want Euros, you can exchange dollars at the airport or use an ATM upon arrival for a better rate. Google Translate App – Load it onto your phone and download Italian offline before your trip. It’s a lifesaver, especially for reading menus or signs! International Driving Permit (if you plan to drive) – Your nearest AAA office can issue one in about 10 minutes, and membership isn’t required. You can also apply online—check the "FAQs" section for the link. Power Bank – Service can be spotty, so your phone will likely drain faster while roaming. Bring a power bank to keep your devices charged on the go. Remember, if you forget anything you can just buy it there.
