It all started at the First Street bar in Encinitas. Thomas and Micaela locked eyes from across the room. They instantly gravitated towards each other. They talked, they danced and they got to know each other over Coors Lights, Cosmos and 90’s pop music. They continued the fun after the bars closed at the closest burrito stand. Micaela left the night feeling giddy and hopeful but not wanting to get too carried away. Thomas left feeling like a fool in love while knowing that he had to keep his cards close to his chest. Micaela’s face lit up when Thomas’s name appeared on her phone a few days later. The next date was set! At a local Mexican restaurant they shared a romantic dinner in a courtyard with a bubbling fountain and lanterns overhead. Micaela fell more in love when Thomas suggested sharing the fajitas plate and ordered two watermelon margaritas. Little did he know he would have to share every meal with her going forward. Over the next year, the couple made memories hiking, going to the beach, exploring San Diego and introducing each other to their friends and family until Covid lock down hit and pushed everyone inside. Their emotional connection grew over quarantine and what was a fun hopeful relationship, turned into something deeper. Micaela was slowly moving in, claiming drawers and closet space as the weekends progressed. By their 3rd anniversary, the couple decided to move in together. They didn’t move far- just down the street to a two bedroom in the same complex. Over the next couple of years, the couple traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico and Europe. It was one of the last stops in Italy where Thomas popped the question. On a terrace at Villa Balbianello in Lake Como, Italy Thomas got down on one knee and asked Micaela to spend forever with him.
