Why You Want to Come video, first spot you see is our venue! https://tinyurl.com/tmg7emw Drone shots video https://tinyurl.com/wmfdkau Check out the Google map we made. We encourage you to add where you are staying/renting after you book! https://tinyurl.com/wvgwp6x The town is very walkable taking 15-20 minutes at the absolute most from any outer reaches of town to the center. If you'd like to rent a car, please feel free to. Be aware that it is busy season and parking will be a challenge. A golf cart or ATV is a great idea and there are numerous in-town companies.
Fly into Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). It’s about a 50 min. drive from airport to Sayulita and there are large grocery stores to stock up on supplies on the way. You can also get all essentials in town for a small premium. Re COVID: Air travel to and from Mexico requires completion of a simple questionnaire at Vuelaseguro.com. You’ll create a profile and get a QR code completing the form within twelve hours of your flights in & out. Return to the US requires a negative COVID 19 test within three days of your returning flight is needed. The PCR test & Antigen test are both valid for entry into the U.S. There is a zero-appointment needed site in central Sayulita (St. Luke’s) to complete this within three days of your flight (Antigen tests yield results in one hour). If you prefer to have a scheduled appointment, you can book one via the Sayulita Covid Testing Center website: https://www.sayulitalife.com/covid-testing-center.
Sayulita is conveniently located in the Central Time Zone.
Please make sure your passports are renewed. They are required for travel outside of the USA.
Our preferred transportation dispatcher for long distance trips is Antonio Garcia. Cell: 52 322 109 4229 Website: www.SayulitaLife.com/VIPTransportation. Antonio has a deal that is $130 for transportation roundtrip between Sayulita and the Airport with a stop at the MEGA (like a Costco/Walmart) on the way into town to stock up more economically on supplies at your rental for the week.
For quick trips, we recommend calling the local taxi number at 329.291.3570 (30 mins before pick up is needed) or hailing a cab at these popular pick up areas: 1. Across the street from Tropical House. Calle Coral and Miramar 2. Next to baseball field. Calle Manuel Rodriguez Sanchez 3. Plaza Principal. Center of town in front of El Espresso and Sayulita Public House. Calle Delfin y Revolucion
November will be the busy season, so booking as far in advance as possible ensures lots of great options for your stay. We recommend booking IN Sayulita for a few reasons: The venue and events are there or coordinated from there, it’s very walkable, and transportation to there from nearby areas can add up in terms of cost. If you are not cost sensitive and want a higher end experience, there are amazing hotels in Punta Mita 25 minutes away. The plaza and surrounding areas near the beach will be very busy. For this reason, if you want a quieter setup we recommend staying on the North end of town across the river or with a bit of distance from all the small town action. Great booking sites for Sayulita are Sayuliltalife.com, Airbnb, or VRBO. VRBO has the best filtering options if you have specific requirements. Air Conditioning is a nice to have in November (though not critical) when searching and always read reviews/ratings.
The North end of town tends to be a bit quieter. This is where you'll find most of the condos and homes with 3+ bdrm. Golf cart would be nice for guests to have. The South end also has great rentals and you are closer to the center of town. Easier to walk to. Gringo Hill has rentals, but the hill is pretty steep for walking up every day and noise from the plaza travels up. So might be better for younger guests who might be closing down the bars anyway. Here's a link on neighborhoods and where "gringo hill" is https://vacationannex.com/category/sayulita/

You can use your American Credit Card most places Don’t forget to notify your credit card of travel! For street vendors and many shopping opportunities, it’s cash only (and a lower price). Many vendors take American dollars in a pinch, but the conversion quoted will not be to your advantage. Cheapest price for anything is pesos cash. There is a bank as you enter town for changing money Intercam Bank (https://www.intercam.com.mx/) on Avenue Revolucion as you enter town (bring your passport to exchange money) OR There are ATMs at the center of town. Some give you pesos and some give you dollars with others having very steep commissions. Checking before taking out money is a good way to go, but the bank is the best place to both take out and exchange money. We recommend using your Credit Card most of the time but have some cash on hand.
Needed medications (prescription drugs are also very inexpensive if you want to buy in town and have brought your prescription for your return). Contact lenses, glasses, retainers, or other unique toiletries to you. A great bathing suit (which you’ll be in most of the days). Most everything else can be found down there these days!
Cell phones will work and most carriers these days do not charge you for being in Canada and Mexico (but do check). Cell phone data should also work, but most rentals and businesses have Wi-Fi available.
It is a tourist destination, so English gets you by just fine everywhere! Locals appreciate any sincere attempt.
Sayulita is very safe but like any destination, we recommend when imbibing to stay in groups (buddy system too) and use common sense! Don’t wander around the beach alone or go into the waves at night and pay mind to cars on the streets.
Doctor in town for house calls (speaks English) Dr. Jose Luis Chavez: 322-109-4179 He can refer if something more serious and he won’t rip off the gringos Don’t use Saint Luke’s Medical Center
(Mex 01) 1800-830-2185 or locally dial 322-113-3255 https://www.sayulitalife.com/sayulita-phone-numbers
Tap water is not for consumption – just carry some bottled and buy some big ones for your accommodation. Brush your teeth with bottled water. There is an environmentally conscious minded community so bring your own coffee mug and water bottle if you can remember! If you book a rental, you’ll generally have a kitchen and be able to save some money by cooking breakfast and preparing snacks at home. Groceries and liquor are pretty cheap. Sayulitalife.com is overall a terrific resource outside of this FAQ we wrote!
